The devotion to the Heart of Jesus has medieval origins, with the writings
of Saint Matilda of Hackeborn, Saint Gertrude of Helfta, and Saint Angela of
Foligno the oldest testimonies. However, the most reliable source

In 1917, during the apparitions of Fatima, the angel and the Virgin taught the
children to pray and respond to the designs of the Hearts of Jesus and Mary.
