Topic: The plural of nouns – practice
Type of lesson: reinforcing the plural of nouns, practice and consolidation
Aims:
- to classify and list the nouns according to their endings and
categories in plural
- to identify and label at least 5 nouns for each plural structure
- to list nouns according to their plural form
- to interact within the group and in the classroom
- to revise previous knowledge .
Vocabulary: regular and irregular nouns, vocabulary regarding food
Skills: Speaking, Reading ,Writing ,Listening.
Techniques: conversation, observation, discovery and discussion, dialogues,
explanation, exercise, game.
Resources: notebooks, handouts, whiteboard, pictures.
Interaction- T-S, S-S, group work
Anticipated problems: The Ss may not understand some oral commands or tasks; if
this happens, they will be translated into Romanian
Stages of lesson activities:
Starting the lesson (1’)
The teacher greets the pupils:
-Good morning children! / - How are you ?

Homework Check (3’)
The teacher asks for homework. She corrects and explains when/ if necessary.

Warming Up (5’): brainstorming
Aims: to create a pleasant atmosphere for learning
to involve Ss by means of personalization
Procedure: T asks Ss what they usually do during the week.
T asks some questions using some nouns at singular form.

Timing: 5 minutes
Presenting the new lesson (Writing Activity)
(10’): table drawing
Aim: ~To check the Students’ ability to read new information in
English and their ability to understand;~ to list nouns according to their plural form
Procedure: The teacher tells the children that she is going to draw 5
columns on the board according to the 5 types of plural in English and they
have to complete the table.
Interaction: T-Ss
Timing: 10 minutes
Activity 1: Writing/ Speaking Activity (translating, answering to questions): 10’
Aim: -to identify and label at least 4 nouns for each plural structure
Procedure: The students have to match the nouns with their endings
and to rewrite the sentences into plural.
Interaction: T-S; T-Ss; S-Ss
Timing: 10 minutes.
Activity 2: Writing (5’)
Aim: to encourage students to speak freely, discovering their week points.
Procedure: The teacher gives the students a worksheet, where they will
have to complete with appropriate irregular plurals
Interaction: T-S; Ss-T
Timing: 3 minutes.
Activity 3: The feed-back of the lesson (5’)
Aim: ~To consolidate the knowledge on the topic introduced.

Procedure: Teacher gives them a worksheet and they have to circle and
correct plural noun for each singular noun.

Timing: 5 minutes.
Assigning Homework (1’)
The teacher communicates the students their homework, writing it on the
blackboard and asking the students to write it on their notebooks.
