1. Who is Annabel Lee in the poem, and how does the speaker describe
her?
 Annabel Lee in the describe by speaker is a, beloved maiden of exceptional beauty and
innocence who lived “in a kingdom by the sea.” The speaker highlight that she existed for
no other reason than “to love and be loved by” him. He idolize her as not just a romantic
partner but as a pure soul that love was powerful enough to be wished by heavenly
beings.

2. In what ways does the poem present love as both beautiful and tragic?
 The poem presents love as beautiful in its purity and intensity: “We loved with a love that
was more than love.” However, this deep affection also becomes tragic when supernatural
forces jealous angels reported to step in, leading to Annabel Lee’s death: “The wind came
out of the cloud by night, Chilling and killing my Annabel Lee.” The speaker’s eternal
devotion highlight the love, beauty, but the loss makes it mysterious tragic.

3. How does the speaker explain the cause of Annabel Lee’s death?
 The speaker believes that bitterness of the angels in heaven caused her death because out
of the jealousy for the love they share. This view suggested that the speaker sees love as a
heavenly force that can challenge the destiny. He interprets Annabel Lee’s death not as a
natural event but as a punishment for the strength of their bond.

4. How does the speaker show that his love for Annabel Lee will never end?
 The speaker declair that their souls remain united with death. He continues to dream of
her when the moon light and imagines her eyes in the stars. His nightly ritual of lying
beside her tomb by the sea of his undying commitment and emotional connection.

5. Do you think the speaker’s love for Annabel Lee is portrayed as healthy or obsessive?
Why?
 For me the love is portrayed as obsessive. Because the intensity and purity of their love
are romantic, the speaker’s inability to move on and his nighttime visits to her grave
suggest a love that borders on fixation. His worldview is formed entirely around Annabel
Lee’s memory, showing how grief and devotion have consumed him.
