for basic operations of the CPU.

- A virus can enter a PC via an infected disc or via the internet.
- To avoid infecting virus, we shouldn’t open email attachments from strangers; take care
when download files from the Web; update anti-virus software as often as possible.

- Computer graphics are pictures and drawings produced by computer.

page?

- A website is a collection of web pages (usually including a home page), set up by
organization or an individual, which are usually stored on the same server.
- A website can contains many web pages: a website is like a book; web pages are the pages
of the book. The pages are all linked together, you can move from one page to another by
clicking on words or pictures called hyperlinks.

- A program is a set of instructions which a computer uses to do a specific task.

- A compiler is a special program which converts the source program into machine code

35. What is a computer network? What are the benefits of using networks?
- A computer network is a system of interconnected computers that share files and other
resources.
- They enable us to get the most from our peripherals. E.g. printers, scanners, high-speed
modems or routers can be shared by a great numbers of users on the same network. In the
same way, networks allow us to send and receive messages, have access to large databases,
and transfer files to and from other computers.  This implies faster communications, and
flexible and interactive work between users
36. What are basic network topologies?
- bus network: all the computers are connected to a main cable
- star network: all data flows through a central hub, a common connection point for the
devices in the network.
- ring network: all devices are connected to one another in a continuous loop, or ring.
- There are also mixed topologies like the tree, a group of stars connected to a central bus

III. Describe the diagram

1. Study the diagram and describe the components of the peripherals.

- Peripherals are often divided into three categories: input, output and storage devices
- Input devices include the mouse, the keyboard, scanners, cameras, etc.
- Output devices include the monitor and the printer.
- There are three basic types of storage media: magnetic, optical and Flash memory.

functions of each key group.

1. Cursor control keys include arrow keys that move the insertion point up, down, right and
left, and keys such as End, Home, Page Up and Page Down, which are used in word
