Abstract

This report presents a detailed study and internship experience at Parallax Labs LLP, a
Mumbai-based company specializing in Virtual Reality (VR), Augmented Reality (AR),
and Mixed Reality (MR) solutions. Established in 2016, Parallax Labs has positioned
itself as an innovator in immersive technologies, catering to diverse industries such as
defense, aerospace, manufacturing, healthcare, and education.

The company focuses on end-to-end development of immersive experiences, ranging


from plant walkthroughs, training simulations, and maintenance solutions to research
collaborations with academic institutions. Its recognition at Aero India 2019 under the
iDEX program highlights its contributions to India’s growing defense and aerospace
innovation ecosystem.

During my internship, I was involved in a combination of electronics hardware


development and immersive software integration. My work included PCB designing,
IMU-based motion tracking, IR blaster development and IR tracking with OpenTrack,
Unreal Engine visualization, and CAD-based component modeling. These
interdisciplinary assignments provided me with valuable exposure to both hardware
prototyping and real-time simulation pipelines, bridging the gap between electronics
engineering and Industry 4.0 immersive technologies.

This report documents the organization structure, industrial processes, equipment used,
safety practices, and project experiences at Parallax Labs. It also highlights the
challenges faced and conquered, such as IMU drift, IR noise, and Unreal Engine jitter,
as well as personal challenges like long commutes from Seawoods to Wadala. The
internship offered me an opportunity to develop not only technical competence but also
professional skills, including teamwork, communication, problem-solving, and time
management.

In conclusion, the training at Parallax Labs provided me with comprehensive industrial


exposure in emerging immersive technologies. It was a transformative experience that
strengthened my foundation in electronics and VR/AR integration, preparing me to
contribute meaningfully to the evolving landscape of digital manufacturing, immersive
simulations, and Industry 4.0 innovations.
