The Peace of God
The Peace of God
Introduction:
For thousands of years, the Jews have called God, Shalom, even in these
Times still call Him the same, God of peace. Peace is a quality of God.
a quality that Jesus has and that God wants his children to have.
Peace is a word constantly used by humanity. In relationships
Among people, peace is always sought. A large part of humanity
they want to live in peace, there are also many who like to live in conflict and
quarrels and are always seeking war.
Since man sinned, peace has been a state of life that the world has not known.

Peace is also a quality related to the internal state of the
There are people who internally live in peace with themselves and
many, perhaps more than the first, who have no peace within them, in their
feelings, in their thoughts. They live in anguish, fear, anger,
discontent, pain, sadness, melancholy, anxiety, etc. Due to problems of the
past or present that overwhelm their life.
Although externally they may not show it, there is no peace in their life. Many do not

The story of the conquest of the land of Canaan by the people of Israel tells
that the bad news caused the people to become disheartened and weaken.

by what is happening, and many Christians are also affected by
this situation. The anguish is not generated by what they are suffering or

When we fall into the same situation as the people of Israel, there is no peace in

What is peace?
The word used in the Bible means tranquility, well-being, prosperity. That
it is the peace that we must have tranquility in our soul, in our mind, in
the heart. Feeling good even in external circumstances, that gives us a
spiritual well-being that others do not have. That tranquility, confidence,
may our soul thrive towards spiritual maturity.
Peace is a quality of God and of Jesus Christ. God is called the God of peace.
to Jesus, prince of peace. Peace is a quality of Christians who have their
life sown in the word of God and they trust in God fully, even if they are
seeing bad things around them and less when they just listen. 1 Corinthians

Without peace we are anxious.
Afanosos means concerned about something, eager about something, interested in

The topic I want to talk to you about is the topic of peace. And although I want to talk about the 'peace of
"God," I actually want to talk about the "peace of God within us." The peace of God must come to be
the peace of God in us.
Everyone wants to live in peace: to enjoy a life free of conflicts and problems. What does it evoke?
The word 'peace' for you? Well-being? Satisfaction? Freedom from disturbances and worries?
Prosperity? Tranquility? Health? Zero conflicts? Rest? All these things are
included in the use that has generally been given to the term. In fact, when we study the AT
we can observe the importance that the term had for people. The Shalom of God was
something very longed for and expected. It was included in the traditional greeting among people.
Even to this day, Jews and Muslims use the expression 'peace be upon you.'
And judgment will dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness will abide in the fruitful field. And the effect of the
justice will be peace; and the work of justice, rest and security forever. And my people will dwell
in a dwelling of peace, in secure rooms, and in places of rest.” (Isaiah 32:16–18, RVR60)

The way I want to develop this meditation is by making several statements with
regarding the topic of derivatives from the Scriptures.
In whom is our peace? "So that in me you may have peace." Our peace with God is anchored in
Christ.
6. The work of the Spirit in the believer is conducive to relational peace.
God makes peace with us and turns his children into ambassadors of peace.
The followers of the Prince of Peace are made peacemakers.
· Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called children of God.
· Pray for the peace of Jerusalem; May those who love you be prospered. May there be peace within your walls.

· Flee also youthful passions, and pursue righteousness, faith, love, and peace, along with those

· For where there is jealousy and contention, there is confusion and every evil work. But the

The fruit of the Spirit is... peace (Gal. 5:22).
The life of faith leads to inner peace.
Our worries and fears reveal our distrust in God.
You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast because they trust in you.

This is true, complete peace. God does something here: He is the one who keeps in perfect peace.

find? This will be the topic of our Bible study today. Let's continue now with
the preaching to discover how and where we can obtain the peace that so many of us need.
Philippians 4:6-7 - Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

When we look for the definition of the word peace in the dictionary [1], we find that this
small word is mostly used to describe the 'mutual relationship of those who are not in
war; however, we also find that it is used to describe: "virtue that puts in the
spirit of calm and tranquility, opposed to turmoil and passions"; and in this portion of the
definition is on which we will base our Bible study today. I say that we will base the

another kind of peace. So keeping what I have mentioned in mind, let's continue now with
our preaching.
The first thing we find here is that we are told: "...Do not be anxious about anything, but instead be...

Now I ask, what was one of the main causes of World War II? According to
Historians note that one of the main causes was when Germany invaded and reconquered the
territories it had lost by signing the Treaty of Versailles in 1919, which ended the
World War I. Although in the years after the ratification, the Treaty of Versailles
It was reviewed and modified several times, especially in favor of Germany. And despite the fact that

In 1938, the territorial liquidation articles remained in effect [3]. And that is why the
historians attribute as one of the causes of the beginning of World War II to the fact
that Germany had violated the terms of the treaty when it reconquered the territory that
had lost by signing the Treaty of Versailles.
But even though all of this that I have mentioned is correct from a historical standpoint, I can ...
to assert that what caused the Second World War was not something as simple as the violation of
a treaty, but the disordered ambition of a man, (inspired and supported by the
devil), to control the entire world. And if we reflect on these events for a moment, I believe that
we will all come to the conclusion that almost all, if not all, wars and armed conflicts
they have been caused by the disordered ambition of governments to control everything. And I can
to say that the government we have in this country at present is slowly and cautiously
trying to control and manipulate every aspect of our lives, passing laws and amendments that
they restrict our constitutional rights, and the rights that God has given us. But
well, I don't want to go deeper into this topic today, this will be another topic for another day; so
that up to here with the governments and the history class. But what about the family and our life
personal?
The reality is that the enemy tries to negatively impact the Christian life through the
disordered ambition and/or greed. Why do I say this? The reason I say this is
because there are numerous Christian homes where disordered ambition, greed, and/or
greed has caused people to put aside Christian family principles. There are
numerous Christian households where both the father and the mother are so busy with the
things of this world, they are so obsessed with material possessions and wealth, that they do not
they have time for God, and even less to dedicate to their family. And it is exactly for this
the reason that the peace of God does not reign in countless Christian homes, but what reigns
it is greed, avarice, and disorder. And the reality is that where these things exist, peace that
God offers you and desires to give you will never be attained. How can we achieve the peace that
Does God want to deliver us? The answer to this question can be easily found here when
...let your requests be made known to God in all prayer and supplication, with

Something that I have repeated, and will continue to repeat for the rest of my life is that prayer is
essential in Christian life. But unfortunately, prayer is the first thing that with
frequency we stop doing. This is something that happens because we get so caught up with the daily
to live and our daily needs, that we completely forget what we find in
Romans 8:6 when we read: "...For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace."
Now, with this I am not saying or implying that we completely disengage from

In John 14:27 we find that the Lord says to us: '...Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you; I do not give it to you'

Let us pay close attention to what the Lord tells us here: '...I do not give it to you as the world gives...'
What I want us to focus on this detail? I want us to focus on this detail because peace
what the world offers is the concept of the absence of conflicts, but the reality of it all is that
As faithful Christians, conflicts and tribulations will not disappear from our lives.
As I have told you on other occasions, if problems and difficulties disappeared from life

To conclude. Now we must ask ourselves, why are there so many Christians who do not succeed?

God gives us this because many do not understand the meaning of the word peace.
Let us never forget that as faithful Christians we cannot see things from a
worldly point of view, but we have to look at things from a spiritual point of view.
So let's remember that peace is not the absence of conflicts, peace is our absolute
trust in God.

It is the happy privilege of every true believer in Christ to enjoy peace with God. This does not
it means that each believer enjoys it, but it is indeed possible for each of us to possess

Blessing? May the Lord help us in our consideration of this issue.
Sometimes we hear about 'true peace' and 'false peace'. What do these terms mean?
It is to be feared that a large number of people in this city are spending their lives in
a false peace, that is, a peace that arises from indifference. They inhabit the paradise of the
foolish, and they live without thinking of their souls and careless of their terrible danger. Numbed with
the devil's opium, they spend their days in a stupor, absorbed in their businesses, their duties,
their pleasures, their friends, their grievances, and their sins.
True peace, divine peace, peace with God, is something very different. It is the result not of the
ignorance or indifference, but rather unawareness that one is out of danger. He who has peace
with God he has faced his own condition in the presence of God. He has contemplated the enormity of
his sins and has recognized himself as a guilty rebel deserving of hell. He has believed the
good news about Christ who died for sinners, and who rose from the dead for their
justification.
If you ask him where his sins are, he might answer: "They have disappeared. They all were
lying over Christ, and He made atonement for them with His blood. Today He is in glory. That
who carried my sins upon Himself no longer bears them. He has been freed from the burden He carried.
on the Calvary, and since He is free, I am also free!
Can you speak this way? This is the language of one who has true peace.
Is it possible to have peace regarding some things, and not regarding others?
I think so. The other day I was visiting a poor man who had accidentally lost
his position. He had been sunk in misery, and he barely knew where the next would come from.

In this way, have peace regarding your troubles and needs.
But as the conversation continued, it became clear that instead he did not have peace regarding his

of Christ.
No. The fact is that little is said in the Bible regarding the 'certainty of salvation', because of the
simple reason that in the times of the apostles, when the gospel was preached in its
simplicity and without mixtures, those who received it and believed in Christ were saved, and,
Naturally, they knew. But in our times, a very different state of things exists. Due to
to the distorted way in which the gospel is often presented, mixed with the law and
With Jewish principles, there are thousands who, to some extent, trust in Christ and build all their
hopes about His precious blood, but they cannot speak with certainty about it.
salvation. Hence the current need to urge uncertainty, and to expose how it
obtains, simply by accepting what God has said. Let's take, for example, the well-known
verse from Acts 13:39: 'In Him everyone who believes is justified.' What an effective weapon it is
this passage to dispel all doubt and all fear!
But peace with God goes beyond keeping doubts and fears at bay through help from
some precious passage from the Scriptures. It is the result of knowing what has been accomplished
through the death and resurrection of Christ for the believer. Through that work, they have been
removed all our sins; we have been justified from all accusation. In other words, it has

Allow me to give an illustration for greater clarity. A few months ago I was living in a house.
surrounded by pastures with a lot of livestock. The path from the house to the neighboring town
I was passing through these pastures. There was no other way to get there.
One afternoon I was walking to the village with a lady who was very afraid of the
cows. When he saw that our path went directly through a herd of these
animals, she became very nervous, and wanted to turn back. I did everything I could to calm her down.
I told him that I had passed through this path countless times, and that I had never seen the slightest
sign of ferocity in cows; they were completely harmless, and it would be more likely that the
cows fled from her rather than attacking her. In the end, my friend calmed down and set out on the
walked, not without some unease at first, but with a growing confidence. She believed my
word when I assured him that there was no danger, and his fears faded away
totally when he saw that there was really no cause for alarm. In this way
he obtained the uncertainty.
Upon returning from the village later, we found that all the cows had been taken to another place.
section of the estate. Not a single hoof remained, no horn in sight.
The face of my companion lit up with a smile, and he exclaimed: "Oh, the cows have

"Yes," I replied, "but you wouldn't be afraid to walk past him now, would you?"
"No," said the lady; "I know they wouldn't harm me and that my fears are foolish and without reason.
reason, but I'm glad they've disappeared anyway.
Now, I believe this illustrates the difference between the certainty of salvation and peace.
Calmed and with the assurance that comes from the Word of God, we can continue our
walking knowing that fears are unfounded and unreasonable. But when we see that everything
that which we feared has disappeared, that our sins have been taken away, that the judgment that
we deserved has been borne, and that the demands of divine justice have been fully met
satisfied - then we have true peace. The source of our fear has been removed.
eliminated. And this is precisely what Christ has fulfilled for us.
There are multitudes who lack peace because they are unbelieving believers. When the Lord Jesus
he reached the two walkers on the road to Emmaus, he found that they, although they were
true disciples, they were filled with unbelief. "Oh foolish ones," he said to them, "and slow of heart
heart to believe everything that the prophets have said!
Many today are precisely in the same condition. They trust in the Lord Jesus.
as their Savior, and place all their hopes of future glory in His precious blood, but
they are slow to believe what the gospel assures them is the result of His death and
resurrection. Do they not see that as a consequence of His work all their sins have been eternally
removed, and who are justly acquitted by God of all accusation.
Most of us are familiar with the story of David's victory over Goliath.
An Israelite, upon seeing the valiant young man advance towards the arrogant giant, might have exclaimed:
I trust this young man. I know he is a man of God, and I have full confidence that through him
God will give freedom to Israel today.
The man who speaks like that is evidently a believer in David. His hopes for liberation
they rest on David's ability to defeat Goliath.
But finally, when the cries of triumph reverberate in the air, and David returns to
camp with the head of the giant in his hands, that same man is sitting in his
store with a look of anxiety on her face. Why doesn't she share the joy and join in
song of gratitude? Because he does not understand the meaning of these acclamations. He has not realized
that the giant is dead. At the moment he understands not only that David is a liberator
trustworthy, but has truly fulfilled the work of liberation, and that the enemy has
missing, peace and joy shall be their part.
This is how many remain deprived of the joy of peace. They have faith in Christ as the Liberator.
trustworthy, but they do not understand the full result of the work that has been accomplished. Perhaps
they have never been exposed to it. As soon as they come to understand it, the blessed result will be the
peace.
Can it be too late for the sinner to begin making peace with God?
Christ has made peace once and for all through the blood of His cross (Col. 1:20). He has cast out
the sure foundations of our blessing. We have no part or luck in the realization of such
work.
To obtain 'peace with God,' then, let the sinner stop trying to make it himself, and let him
through faith in Christ, of the results of His death and resurrection. It is never too much
it's too late for this, while there is life.
In Psalm 119:165 we read: 'Great peace have those who love your law.' What does this mean?
It is not exactly the 'peace with God' that is mentioned here. The 'law' in this passage is something
much broader than the Ten Commandments. It is about the revelation of God's ways
(to the extent that he deemed appropriate to make them known in those days), and indicated the way
of wisdom, justice, and peace for man. Those whose hearts were influenced by it
they enjoyed the inseparable blessing of the knowledge of God and His ways, however partial it may be
it was necessarily that knowledge.
In our days, the clear starry sky of the times of the Old Testament has given way to the
glorious midday light of the full revelation of God. God has made Himself known, and has given His
Holy Spirit to guide our hearts in the lines of Your revelation. If we submit ourselves
to this blessed Holy Spirit, and we let Him guide our hearts in what God has
revealed for our blessing, our sure portion will be a great peace, just as it was the
portion of the saints, in David's time, who loved the things of God.
And for this reason we read in Romans 8:6 that "to be concerned with the Spirit is life and peace."
But this peace should not be confused with the peace of Romans 5:1, which is the result of being
justified. In this case, it is about a peace that is the opposite of that state of morbid
dissatisfaction with the self that is often the result of becoming preoccupied with our own
coldness and sinfulness.
If we go back to Romans 4:25, and relate this passage to the first verse of the following
chapter, we will have an answer in the same words of Scripture. 'Jesus, Lord
our," we read, "was delivered for our transgressions, and raised for our
justification. Justified, therefore, by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord.
Jesus Christ.
Peace with God follows immediately from the fact that we are justified, and this depends on how
we have seen, from the death and resurrection of Christ. In this way, they have been satisfied
demands of divine justice, and consequently peace is ours.
What is the difference between the 'peace with God' and the 'peace of God' that we read about in
Philippians 4:7
The 'peace with God' relates to our sins and our state of guilt before Him, and it is
the result of what He makes known to us.
The 'peace of God' has to do with the circumstances of life, with difficulties and trials.
And it is the result of presenting our requests before Him.
Anxieties are something that weakens the shine of many Christian lives. The believer has peace with
God regarding your sins, but to be able to go through this world of trials and pain, you have to
cultivate the habit of presenting everything to God in prayer.
The result will be that your heart and mind will be kept in peace. The very peace of God, which
surpasses all understanding, will reign in him. Then he will accept each circumstance as
ordered by the One who makes everything work together for our good, and instead of worrying and
to whisper, will enjoy a serene confidence and peace.
What did the Lord Jesus mean when He said He was leaving His peace with His disciples in John?
14:27?
The concept is very similar to the one we just presented. But the tests and afflictions of the
life is common to all—both the unconverted and the children of God suffer it, although only
the last ones have the "peace of God" to guard their hearts amidst all of it.
But there are certain things that only Christians have to face, such as persecution.
because of Christ and suffering loss for faithfulness to Him. These things, the result of rejection
against Christ here and of His absence, were foreseen by Him, and He warned "His own", to those who
left behind, that they should expect to suffer opposition, slander, persecution, and calumnies. But in
amidst all that they should suffer for His name's sake, they would enjoy the sweetness of peace
celestial, Your own peace. If the earth was going to be a place of rejection and pain for them, they were going to be
to prepare a place in the 'many mansions' above. If I was going to leave them a legacy of suffering, this
It would come accompanied by a precious legacy of peace. This is a peace that the world will never be able to
give, a peace that the world will never be able to take away.
