Capabilities of The MOA
Problem solving. It is the ability to face situations and tasks that present a
problem or challenge for the student regarding their knowledge and interests. It involves mobilizing
available knowledge, recognize those that are not but are necessary and develop possible ones
solutions assuming that problems do not always have a fixed or determined answer that
must necessarily be achieved. It is linked to creativity and critical thinking, among others.
Critical thinking. It is the ability to adopt one's own and well-founded stance regarding a
a specific problem or situation relevant at a personal and/or social level. It involves analyzing and
interpret data, evidence, and arguments to build reasoned judgments and make decisions
consequences. It also implies valuing diversity, attending to and respecting the positions of others,
recognizing their arguments. It is linked to the openness to the different, communication and
creativity, among others.
• Learn to learn. It is the ability to initiate, organize, and sustain one's own learning.
It involves knowing and understanding personal learning needs, setting objectives for
learning, to mobilize sustained effort and resources to achieve the objectives and
evaluate the progress towards the proposed goals, considering mistakes as part of the process. It
links with personal motivation, initiative, and openness to the different, among others.
• Working with others. It is the ability to interact, connect, and work with others in a way
appropriate to the circumstances and the common purposes that are intended to be achieved. It implies
recognize and value the other as different, listen to their ideas and share one's own with
attention and respect for differences. It is linked to problem-solving, communication, the
commitment, empathy, and openness towards the different, among others.
Communication. It is the ability to listen, understand, and express concepts, thoughts,
feelings, desires, facts, and opinions. It is in a context of social interaction. It assumes, by a
side, the possibility of selecting, processing, and critically analyzing information obtained from
different sources - oral, non-verbal (gestural, visual) or written - and in various formats,
relating new ideas and concepts with previous knowledge to interpret a
context or specific situation, with possibilities of drawing conclusions and transferring them to others
fields. On the other hand, it implies the ability to express one's own ideas or feelings and to produce
information related to facts or concepts, in an oral, non-verbal, and written manner, through
different media and formats (digital and traditional analog), addressing the purpose and the
communicative situation. It is related to openness to the different, working with others and the
critical thinking, among others.
Commitment and responsibility. It is the ability to commit as national citizens.
and global ones, analyze the implications of one's own actions (values), and intervene in a way
responsible for contributing to the well-being of oneself and others. Involves physical care and
emotional self-awareness, and the recognition of needs and possibilities for construction
of a vital and healthy experience. In relation to others, it refers to the responsibility for the
care for people, the community, public space, the environment, etc. It implies taking on
a careful and committed look at local and global reality and at the present and the
future generations. It is linked to empathy, openness to the different, critical thinking and
communication, among others.
