Mary: And how should that be? Well, I do not know a man. (approaching)

Archangel: The Holy Spirit will descend upon you, and the virtue of the Most High will cover you with its shadow,
therefore the holy fruit that will be born of you will be called the Son of God. There is your cousin Elizabeth,
that in her old age she has also conceived a son, for nothing is impossible for God.

Mary: (kneeling) Here is the servant of the Lord, let it be done to me according to your word.

Second Act

Narrator: In those days, Mary went to a city of Judah and entered the house of Zechariah,
he greeted his cousin Isabel.

Mary: (Saint Isabel appears seated, stands up upon hearing the Virgin Mary enter) God save you,
Isabel.

Isabel: Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb. And how is it to me
how can it be that the Mother of my Lord comes to visit me? Blessed are you who believed that it would be fulfilled
they would fulfill the things that have been told to you on behalf of the Lord.

Mary: My soul glorifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God, my Savior, for he has
dared to look at his humble slave.

Third Act

Narrator: In those days when Jesus was about to be born, the government issued an order for registration,
that is, to register in the place where they were born. Mary and Joseph, in fulfillment of the
orders, they set out on a journey to Bethlehem, the city of David from where Joseph's family was. It tells the
Gospel that in the outskirts of Bethlehem some shepherds were watching, keeping watch over
night alongside his flock. It is on that wonderful night that we will find ourselves, traveling with
the thought up to Judea...

Pastor 1: How clear the stars look tonight!

Pastor 2: You are right, I feel that tonight is not like all the others, some time after getting into the...
sun, the field was still illuminated as if it were day.

Pastors: It's true, it's true!

Néstor: How true, not at all! You guys are always seeing visions. The only weird thing I've
It seems that my boot ran out of wine before noon, and I don't know who it could have been.

Pastor 1: You're starting with your unfounded complaints.

Néstor: Yes, I know! It was you, Antonio.

Pastor 1: I have not touched your wine, and do not come to slander me.

Néstor: You return my wine to me.

Pastor 1: Shut up, I saw you steal Juan's sheep and then hide.

Néstor, that is not true.

Pastor 2: To shut up, can't they be together without fighting?

Pastor 1: What I say is true. Tonight has something special, I believe that it is approaching the
fulfillment of the prophecies.

Pastors: What do the prophecies say?

Pastor 2: That the Redeemer will be born.

Pastor 1: The Pastor is to come to his people.

Pastor 2: What will the Messiah be like?

Pastor 3: A strong and valiant warrior. If not, how could he save our people?
Shepherd 1: He will be a king who rules over foreigners.

Pastor 2: They are mistaken, he will be more than a warrior, more than a king.

Néstor: Keep dreaming, credulous ones. How can a Jew be greater than Caesar? You are crazy.

Pastor 1: You are a disbeliever. You are irritable.

Pastor 3: Let Gil tell us something about the prophecies.

Gil: Well, everyone knows that our parents and the parents of our parents, from all the
times have awaited the coming of a Messiah. The prophets spoke of Him, saying that He will be the
hope of the nations. The Prophet Isaiah said that he will be born of a virgin, and he will be called
Emmanuel, which means 'God with us'.
Pastors: Is God among us?

Antonio: The prophet Malachi said that kings will come to pay him honors and presents.
crib.
Pastora 1: If the kings will tribute him honors, he will be more than a king.

Gil: The Prophet Jeremiah announced what will happen at that time: that the blind will see, the deaf will hear.
the deaf will walk the lame, and the mute will speak.

Antonio: And Zacharias told us that the Messiah will be called the Prince of Peace.

Sara: Well, by the way, where will the Redeemer be born?

Gil: Listen to what Malachi said: 'And you, Bethlehem, are not the least of the cities of Judah, for'
For you shall come forth the one who will govern my people.

All: In Bethlehem!

Right here.

Luisa: What a marvel! The truth of the Lord has been revealed to us through his prophets, now
we understand clearly.

Néstor: As a story, it's very good; but all the prophets have waited for the Messiah, and they have
dead without seeing it. I think it will never come.

Antonio: You don't believe in anything. Aren't you scandalized by your behavior?

Néstor: Scandalize me, me? Don't be silly, I don't get scandalized by anything... do you hear that? Not with anything...

nothing!

Bernarda: When will the Messiah come?

Gil: There is a way to know. The Angel Gabriel appeared to the Prophet Daniel one day and told him that
this would happen seventy weeks of years after rebuilding Jerusalem.

Pastors: Seventy weeks!

Luisa: Well then, it is time for him to come, the time has come, and if the prophecies are
certainly, we have to wait for it in these days.

(Mooing is heard, mm... mm... mm... Luisa, Bernarda, and Antonio stand up).

Bernarda: The cattle are dispersing.

Antonio: Let's go pick him up (everyone is leaving, Néstor doesn't want to).

Antonio: Come on, Néstor, don’t just stand there.

Néstor: I am very well here. You all go. How comfortable it is to rest, not to worry about
nothing. To have tranquility... calm... (The devil appears behind him. Suspense... he gets scared)
Néstor).

Satan: Don't be afraid, don't be afraid, what harm can I cause you?... and especially not to you. The others...
you really know how to savor life.

Néstor: Yes, yes, but don't get too close.

Satan: The others work, you don't have to do it, since you rest. The others suffer,
you know how to enjoy. Hey, your colleagues believe a series of tales that are nothing but lies
old women. Yes, old women. You, my good friend, indeed have practical sense.

Néstor: That's what they've told me, that I've been clever since I was a kid.

Satan: Are you sly? (Aside) Very soon you are going to be dead. (Pause) What is that at night?
starlit and prodigious? The Messiah who is coming... (writhes). Ha, ha, ha... You don't believe in that,
right?

Néstor: Of course not. They are certainly a bit foolish, but good companions.

Satan: By the way, what is your name, comrade?

Néstor: My name is Néstor, and you, who are you?

Satan: Don't you believe that I am the devil?

Néstor: Ha, ha, ha, and even if you were.

Satan: Well, yes I am, look at my horns.

Néstor: Well, that is not exclusive to the devil. Some animals also have horns.

Satan: Look at my tail, look at my face, are you not scared?

Néstor: Scare me? You make me laugh. Look, at most, you are a poor devil.

Satan (furious): A poor devil. Damn horrible pastor. Oh really? (he chases him hitting him)

Néstor: (screams in pain and writhes) Oh, you burn like a demon.

Satan: Well, let's make peace for good and a pact as well. You are smarter than your...

favor.

Néstor: And what is that favor?

Satan: Oh, it's very easy! You just have to convince your companions that all those

Néstor: (receiving the bag) Wow, wow! That's no problem. The devil isn't that ugly.
as they paint it.

Satan: Well, friends! Until death! (exits)

Néstor: Until death... money, lots of money! Everything I'm going to do with this money!

pastors).

Antonio: Néstor, why are you so rude to us? Why are you so envious, so
Rebel? Why do you not want peace?

Néstor: Why? Because you make the center of your life the religious, the incomprehensible.

Antonio: And what is wrong with that? I would say on the contrary, that this is fair, this is true.
Fine, let's not fight and sit down to enjoy this wonderful night.

Fourth Act

Narrator: Let's return to Joseph and Mary, who had set out on a journey to Bethlehem to register.
they were quite far away, they arrived at night in Bethlehem and found all the places full of
lodging, they were forced to ask for shelter from house to house.

San José: (addressing the children and walking in front of them, singing) In the name of Heaven,
I ask you for shelter, for my beloved wife cannot walk.

Children: This is not an inn, keep going, I cannot open, do not be some scoundrel.

San José: Do not be inhuman, have mercy on us, for the God of Heaven will reward you.

Kids: You can leave now and not bother me, because if I get angry, I will beat you up.

San José: We come exhausted from Nazareth, I am a carpenter, named Joseph.

Children: I don't care about the name, let me sleep, because I tell you, we are not going to open.

San José: The inn asks you, beloved landlord, for just one night, the Queen of Heaven.

Children: Well, if it is a queen who asks for it, how come she walks so alone at night?

San José: My wife is María, she is Queen of Heaven, and she will be the mother of the Divine Word. (Everyone is)
they lead to the manger singing

Narrator: No one wants to open their doors or let them into their house, everyone tells them that they have no space.
for them. So, Mary and Joseph, sad, tired, and cold, receive lodging in a small
cave. There, before the sun rises, in the darkness and silence of the night, the Child Jesus is born from the
Virgin Mary. She takes the Baby Jesus in her arms, how joyfully she looks at him, she kisses him for the first time.
sometimes, he speaks to her.

(A brief silence invites contemplation)

Narrator: Let's go back now to the shepherds who are watching over their flocks, some are sleeping very
tired. Just as God loves the poor intensely, He wants them to be the first to
to know him. (And suddenly, an angel of the Lord appears next to them to bring them the Good News).

Shepherds: An angel, an angel! Look there, how beautiful!

Pastora: How beautiful, full of light!

Pastor: What a marvel!

Angel: Glory to God in the highest and peace on earth to men of good will. Do not be afraid.
fear, because I come to announce to you a good news that will be a cause of great joy for
the whole town.

Pastor: Calm down, don't be afraid.

Pastor: He says we have nothing to fear.

Pastor: And it brings us a new great joy!

Angel: For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.

Pastor: Listen brothers, the Savior, the Messiah, the Expected has been born. Angel of the Lord,
give us a sign to know it.

Angel: It will be a sign for you that you will find the Child wrapped in swaddling clothes and lying in a manger.

Pastor: The hand of God has lit the night. The light comes from very high.

Pastor: It is the Child who has lit the stars.

Pastora: I believe in the Savior, I believe in the Infant Jesus.

Néstor: I regret having been skeptical. Forgive me, my Lord and my God. I in my
blindness and disbelief I distanced myself from my brothers, I who sinned against heaven and against you, I
that I was arrogant, I ask for forgiveness.

Pastor: That star is showing us the way to Bethlehem.

Pastor: It is a big and bright star, let's follow it!

Shepherd: Walk the star, walk towards Bethlehem!

Pastor: It's true, let's get moving!

Pastor: Yes, I want to see, I want to touch, I want to hold the baby Jesus in my arms.

Pastor: It's incredible, and yet, it's true! Let's go to Bethlehem, let's see that prodigious event.
what the angel has announced to us.

Néstor: And let's not allow doubt in our hearts again.

Pastor: It's incredible!

Pastor: Come on, pastors, let's go.

(They come singing: To Bethlehem, shepherd boys)

Narrator: Just as the child Jesus came for all men, the rich and the poor, for those who
they know a lot and for those who know nothing, he wants three wise men from distant towns,
come and meet him. The biggest star serves as your signal.
(Song: Bell over bell)

Narrator: Upon arriving there, the wise men were amazed, saying, 'Let's give thanks to God,'
who has wanted to come to be born, to live, and to die among us (they kneel) Melchor brings gold,
Well, what less can one give to the King of the world; Gaspar brings incense to praise the King of the
Heavens; Balthasar brings myrrh, because the Christ Child is also a man.
(And there remain the Virgin, Saint Joseph and the Child, surrounded by shepherds and wise men)
