PentecostEve

This is a vigil for the Solemnity of Pentecost, the coming of the Spirit.
Saint about the apostles and Mary. We suggest the following outline:

Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament

2. Vespers prayer (optional) or prayers before meditation.
3. Spiritual reading or points of meditation
4. Brief time of silent prayer
5. Final prayer (sequence of the Holy Spirit)
During moments of silence, hymns can be sung.
dedicated to the Holy Spirit, like the 'Veni Creator'.

Pre-meditationprayersontheHolySpirit.
L.- Let us all together confess our Trinitarian faith.
We believe in God the Father, in God the Son, and in God the Holy Spirit, that
there are not three gods, but one only in Trinity of persons.

We confess that the Holy Spirit exists.

What is the third person of the Holy Trinity, distinct from the
Father and of the Son, from whom He eternally proceeds.

We recognize that the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son by
eternal love breath.
He is a gift from the Father and the Son to their Church. Our Comforter,
defender against the attacks of our enemies.

The Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son.
T.-Because just as the Father, upon understanding himself, begets
Verb, thus from the love of the Father and the Son proceeds the Holy Spirit.

We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord and giver of life, who proceeds from
Father and of the Son, who with the Father and the Son receives the same worship and
glory, and spoke through the prophets.
He is the Lord of our souls because He frees us from slavery.
of sin.

He is a giver of life, because just as the soul animates the body, grace...
gives life to the soul with the power of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit deserves the same worship as the Father and the Son.
because divine people are equal in their divinity.
The prophets spoke to us and taught us the mysteries of God, moved
for you, Holy Spirit.
T.- In the same way, the Church, a prophetic people, must speak and
to teach the divine mysteries to every generation in the world.

L.- From you, Holy Spirit, proceeds the knowledge of future things, the
intelligence of mysteries, the understanding of hidden truths, the
distribution of gifts, heavenly citizenship, the conversation with the
angels.
From you, Holy Spirit, comes the joy that never ends,
perseverance ends, eternal glory.

L. - Pour forth in our souls the fruits that come from you: the forgiveness of
our sins, the enlightenment of our intellects to know the
divine mysteries, the help to fulfill the commandments, the hope of
eternal life.
Your fruits, exalted lord, that fill us with sweetness and joy.

The bodies become radiant upon receiving rays of light and thus
our souls, carried by you, Holy Spirit, flooded with grace, become
spiritual tornados.
In the same way that when the sun rises, everything is seen clearly.
if the eye is healthy, so is the one who receives the illumination of the Holy Spirit
I see what I used to ignore.

L. - Without your help, there is nothing innocent and valuable in man.

You can wash the stained, heal the sick, give warmth to
cold heart, straighten the one who falls, put on the right path the one who
you are led astray, pointing the course of our souls towards the harbor
sure of salvation and eternal joy.

L.- You who manifested yourself in fullness at Pentecost, manifest yourself now.
between us and enliven the Church founded by Jesus Christ, the first
Paraclete.
T.-You who appeared in the form of a dove and fire to the apostles
and your disciples, and you made them simple and encouraged them to act, make us
humble, with purity of soul and body, and inspire us with zeal
apostolic.

L.- Stay with us and remain in your Church, guide it, guarantee with your
presence the conservation of the deposit that the Word revealed to us.
You - You who have received what Jesus Christ obtained for us on the Cross,
announce everything to us and lead us to the full truth.
L.- Just as dry wheat cannot be turned into dough
compact and in a single loaf if it is not moistened first,
T.- so we, who are many, could not
to become one thing in Christ Jesus without this water that falls
from the sky.

L.- To you, Holy Spirit, we who are in need of holiness, direct our
gazes and our hearts.
T.- And to you who are the source of sanctification, light of our
intelligences, clarity of our reason.

You are inaccessible by your nature but you have made yourself accessible by your
goodness.
We need the Holy Spirit for our perfection and
renewal.

(On your knees. Silence pause. Song)

(Standing)

L. - For you, Holy Spirit, hearts are lifted up high, the weak
Those who are taken by the hand, those who are progressing, reach perfection.
Through you, paradise is restored to us and we ascend to the Kingdom of Heaven.

L.- Through you, Holy Spirit, men reach the purity of affections and
intentions and we achieve filial adoption.
Through you we can call God Father and we participate in grace of
Christ.

L.- For you, Holy Spirit, we have the right to be called children of the light.
T.-Through you we partake in eternal life and have the fullness of the
blessing.

L.- For you, Holy Spirit, we contemplate, as in a mirror, the goods

promised that are waiting for us and that by faith we hope to enjoy.
You illuminate the pure in heart and make them spiritual.
communion with you.

L.- You fill everything with your power, but you only communicate with those who are yours.
you grant and distribute your gifts according to the faith of your servants.
Just as the arid land does not bear fruit if it does not receive water, so too
we, who were once a dry log, would never have given
fruit of life without this free rain from above.

Just as the dry tree germinates when it receives water, so does

also the sinful soul, upon receiving the gift of the Holy Spirit
repentance produces fruits of holiness.
T.-Care lovingly for your Church and preserve the integrity of the faith,
the charisma of infallibility, the multiple manifestations of
holiness.

You use our feeble words as an instrument to

the salvation of mankind and perfecting them internally, making
to produce good fruits.
Make all of us faithfully fulfill the mission of
to bring the souls of the young to God, our Father, through Jesus Christ,
our brother.

God has given us a great helper and protector so that

let us remain vigilant in the apostolic task.
He never tires of seeking those who are worthy of Him, those who
they open the doors of their heart wide open, to spill their
done.

L.- We won't take long to learn everything you want, because immediately
you touch our mind, you teach.
And when you illustrate the soul, you transform it.

L.- You hide what it seemed to be.

You manifest what it was not.

(On knees. Silence pause. Song)

(Standing)

L.- Let us pass from the taste for earthly things

To the sole hope of the heavenly.

L.- Deliver us from fear and cowardice

To a determined and generous strength of the soul.

L.- That, like the apostles, we should not be intimidated by our ...
followers.
T.-Y let us remain tenaciously united to the love of Christ.
That we may be sensitive and docile to what the Holy Spirit promotes in
our heart.
T.-Y let us prepare to receive the charisms that it distributes,
effects and decisions that are born within us.

Why feel alone if the Holy Spirit accompanies us?

T.-Why feel insecure or anxious if the Paraclete is
pending on us and our things?

L.- Why madly go through life asking for happiness where there is none?
T.- Why did it take us so long to understand that there is no greater joy
What is the fervent deal with this sweet guest of the soul?

L.- Let us repeat all the words that Jesus said to us on the night of his
farewell
I will ask the Father and He will send you another Comforter, so that He may be
eternally with you, the Spirit of truth, whom the world
cannot receive it, because it neither sees nor knows it: but you do
you will know because he will dwell with you and will be in you
(Jn. 14, 16-17).

We have been sealed with the promised seal of the Holy Spirit (Eph. 1:13)
to belong to Him eternally in an everlasting covenant.
T.-Y you have granted us your gifts of wisdom and intelligence, spirit
of counsel and of strength, spirit of knowledge and of piety, spirit of
holy fear.

We remind you in your presence that we have been sealed with your seal and that
we need your spiritual treasures, which are your abundance
seven sacred gifts. That we understand the effectiveness and excellence of your
done
T.- to more easily and promptly follow your inspirations, and so that
to arrive directly at holiness.

L.- Through the gift of knowledge, you teach us not to do our will,
unless it is from the Father.

T.-Let us, filled with piety and gratitude, acknowledge what is

has given us by consent and grace of the Holy Spirit.

L.- Fill us with your inspirations because we are yours as property

sealed (cf. Ex. 12:13; Ez. 9:4-7)
T.-so that under your care we may awaken from the sleep of death,
let us move to love God above all things, let us feel
driven towards the love of one's neighbor and the exercise of the saints
virtues, to heavenly love and to good resolutions.

We are a people marked with the shining seal of the Spirit.

For Him we are valuable and He takes care of us carefully. He will defend us.
T.-Let us guard against grieving the Holy Spirit, in whom we have...
they are sealed for the day of redemption (cf. Eph. 4:30). We do not want
never distrust their love and loyalty towards us.

L. - Let's learn like the first Christians and let ourselves be catechized by
new.
T.-"Do you not know that you are temples of the Holy Spirit who dwells in
you and what you have received from God, and that you no longer belong to yourselves
yourselves?” (I Cor. 6, 10).

Those brothers of ours, the first Christians, lived in a

pagan environment, despised and, many times, persecuted.
T.-But the Holy Spirit, sweet guest of their souls, was their
consolation in the midst of the sorrows and persecutions of the world.

They knew how to bear witness to Christ with their life and their word,
proclaiming their faith in every circumstance and place, even with their own
spilled blood. The words of the Lord often become reality.
T.-"When they deliver you, do not worry about how or what you are going to
speak. What you need to talk about will be communicated to you then.
moment. Because it will not be you who speaks, but the
The Spirit of your Father will speak in you" (Mt. 10:19-20).

L.- We need to approach God with simplicity and trust, to feel Him close and
constantly ask for his help. The Holy Spirit inspires our prayer
to pray as it should be. Thus, it makes us bearers of God in the midst of
a world that needs to be freed from slavery.
Only then will we be strong and able to go against the tide, talk about
God, without fears or false complexes, in all situations of the
life.

We have a very high dignity:

T.-be Children of God, brothers of Jesus Christ, heirs of the Kingdom that
He has prepared us.

Come, Holy Spirit: teach us and enlighten us.

O Holy Spirit: strengthen us and comfort us.
Come, Holy Spirit: defend us and nourish us.
Come, Holy Spirit: fill us and satisfy us.

Come, Holy Spirit: heal us and sanctify us.

Come, Holy Spirit: choose us and justify us.

Come, Holy Spirit: inspire us and reveal to us.

Come, Holy Spirit: console us and set us free.

Come, Holy Spirit: help us and guide us.

Come, Holy Spirit: announce to us and glorify us.

Your performance is smooth and calm.

The experience of those who possess you is pleasant and enjoyable.

L.- Your yoke is very light and your coming is full of light and truth.
Your goodness protects us from evil and your love is our bond.
unity.

MEDITATION OF THE HOLY SPIRIT

What is the Holy Spirit? The Holy Spirit is God, it is the third person.
of the Holy Trinity, one and equal to the Father and the Son. They are not three gods,
but one only. A unique God whom we would have to define with a single
Word we would say that 'God is love.' This is how Saint John defines it. And everything
that love that exists in the bosom of the Trinity and unites the three
divine beings so intimately among themselves, all that love becomes
gift is given to us through the Holy Spirit. That is why in the
I believe we define the Holy Spirit as 'Lord and giver of life.'

Life comes from love, and it is the first gift that makes everything possible.
that's why the Holy Spirit is so important to us, because
It is through Him that we receive everything from God, everything. The Holy Spirit is
love from which all the gifts that God gives are derived, like from a source
its creatures: the donation of existence to all things by creation;
the donation of the life of grace, which Jesus Christ has earned for us
dying on the Cross, but reaching us through the Holy Spirit.

That is why it is so important to become friends with the Holy Spirit, because everything
we receive through Him, everything that truly matters. And one of the
Thank you that we can ask the Holy Spirit today to make us
understanding what truly matters.

The Holy Spirit is so important to us that Saint Paul says:

"no one can say Jesus is Lord except by the influence of the Holy Spirit"
to say that we cannot make an act of faith if the Holy Spirit does not help us.
But Saint Paul says more, he says that 'no one knows the innermost being of God but the
God's spy. When we need to make an inquiry about
our health, we go to a doctor when we are concerned about an issue
legally, we ask a lawyer. If we want to know God, if
we want to grow in our spiritual life, we must ask for help from
Holy Spirit, because it is the Holy Spirit who reveals to us who God is,
Who is Jesus Christ? And knowing Jesus Christ is fundamental for us,
to avoid making a mistake on our path. JX is not something we can
to do without. He is the only one capable of giving meaning to my existence and the only one capable
to give me eternal life. We all feel nostalgia for God in our
heart. We feel it when we feel the need for a purer love,
more stable, deeper than what we find around us.

Ask the Holy Spirit tonight to reveal to us Jesus Christ, to us

let us truly know Jesus Christ, may He reveal to us His great love
for us.

Ask the Holy Spirit to fulfill in us the promises of

God, what are saving promises. In the Old Testament, through the prophet Ezekiel,
God had promised: “I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you.
new, I will remove from your body the heart of stone and give you a heart
of flesh". (Ez 36, 25ss)

What is the heart of stone? It is the heart hardened by sin.

Ask the Holy Spirit to flood our soul with the rain of His grace,
so that the love of God can enter us.

In that same passage of Ezekiel, the Lord also says: 'I will sprinkle you with'
pure water and I will cleanse you from all your impurities and from all your
idols". Today I ask you: Do you have idols that have captured your heart?
Are there things in your life that have taken the place of God? Ask the Spirit.
Saint to help you discover those idols, to recognize them and cast them out from
heart.

Saint Paul (Rom 8:26) continues by saying: "The Holy Spirit helps in
our weakness, because we do not know how to ask for prayer as it should be.
For the Spirit intercedes for us with groans that cannot be expressed.” And more
afternoon 'We know that God arranges all things for the good of those who Him
man." There is so much confusion in our lives that many times we do not know
What is really good for us? To ask the Holy Spirit to want.
guide your life.

Account of Pentecost. Last week was Ascension. We heard

the account of how the Lord ascends to Heaven. It must have been an experience
impressive for the apostles. Before leaving, he tells them not to stray from
the city, which will receive the promise of the Father, will receive the strength of
Holy Spirit, and you will be my witnesses to the ends of the earth.

In the era of efficiency, it seems that we value things only for

the result they give us, because of how effective they are. Well, look at the effectiveness of
Holy Spirit. The apostles were with Mary, that is very important, and
the Scripture says that they "persisted in prayer." And the day when the people
Jew celebrated his Pentecost feast, "suddenly there was a noise in
the sky, like a mighty wind that passes, filled the whole house where
they were. They appeared to them as tongues of fire that divided and
they were placed over each of them. And they all were filled with the Spirit
Saint." And the fire of God's love filled them, and from weak men and
scared, they became witnesses, and they reached the ends of the earth.

Ask the Holy Spirit for a new Pentecost, ask Him to pour out Himself.
new about the world. The world needs God, it needs to be renewed by
a new outpouring of the Holy Spirit. Don't you see so many people sad, depressed,
young people tired of living, so many men and women so disappointed about
everything that ends up taking their lives...? The world needs God. The
Men and women of our world need to know God. But
For that, we must allow ourselves to be transformed first by the fire.
of the Holy Spirit, in order to be witnesses.

One can say: Can I be a witness? The Lord said one day to St.
Margarita Mª de Alacoque: 'If you believe, you will see the power of my heart.' Believe in
the power of God, to change your life and to change the world.

In the same book of the prophet Ezekiel that we have commented on before, there is
another stunning image. The prophet sees a valley full of bones. God tells him
ask if those dry bones can be revived. The prophet says: “Lord, you
You know.” The prophet prophesied about the bones in the name of Yahweh. There was a
shivering and the bones began to join together and were covered with
meat and they regained life by standing up. It was a crowd
immense.
This can also happen today if we pray with faith to the Holy Spirit. Whoever
He who does not know God and lives with his back to God is comparable to those bones.
dry. But the Lord can restore the life of grace to all those
men and women who live far from Him. Let us pray together with Mary,
our good Mother. Let us ask the Spirit, upon us and upon all the
humanity. Let it be a new Pentecost.

FINAL PRAYER.

Come, Holy Spirit, God,

and send us from Heaven
your light, to enlighten us.

Come, father of the poor,

light that penetrates the souls,
giver of all gifts.

Source of all comfort,

peace in the hours of mourning.

You are a break at work;

consolation, amidst the weeping.

Come, sanctifying light,

Without your divine inspiration
