advantages and disadvantages of different computer-aided drawing programs

computers that currently exist.

TinkerCAD is a 3D design application for beginners developed by the

American company Autodesk. This software is based on the creation of blocks, which

that allows him to develop models from a set of basic shapes.

Advantages and disadvantages:

It's easy to use.

The work interface is intuitive and attractive.

One learns to drive with little training time.

The basic tools are very comprehensive.

Creo is one of the leading CAD software in the market for product design.

developed by Parametric Technology Corporation more than 30 years ago. Integrates

many functionalities such as thermal analysis, structure, movement, generation of

parametric surfaces and free style or direct modeling

Advantages:

Ease of modeling organic surfaces.

High-capacity renderings for obtaining visualizations

photorealistic.

Ease of modeling objects without the need to know the dimensions

More agile and more free modeling.

1
Disadvantages:

It does not have a dedicated module for creating technical plans according to

standards.

It does not allow the simulation of the object regarding materials or operation of

mechanisms.

Difficulty in editing the modeling when it is very advanced.

AutoCAD from Autodesk was one of the first CAD programs launched in 1982.

Although AutoCAD is very popular and widely used, it is not the easiest to use for the

3D modeling.

Advantages:

Drawing is an easy, simple, and quite fast way.

The program gives the drafter the opportunity to convert their work to other files.

as PDF and be able to share them effectively and easily with whoever desires.

This also has tools to make the work as perfect as possible.

both aesthetically and in terms of information, as we find tools to be able to

as well as providing us with boxes, text options,

colors, realistic presentation methods among others.

This program saves us more time when designing, as it is much

it's faster to draw here than to draw by hand.

AUTOCAD is a great tool for engineers, draftsmen, and architects.

among others.

2
Disadvantages:

The biggest disadvantage of AUTOCAD is that it is a paid program, which has

for many people this represents a great limitation.

Most people who want to learn how to use this program have to

opt for paying for quite expensive courses to learn how to use them completely.

This program itself is quite slow, the rendering is too, and if we apply

adding materials to the 3D objects makes the file much heavier.

A powerful computer is required, with a minimum of 2GB of RAM and a

more than 100GB of space on the hard drive to work with the latest versions.

Livewire is a virtual electronics laboratory that allows for simulations that

they demonstrate the operating principles of electronic circuits based on

fundamental laws such as Ohm's law and Kirchhoff's laws.

Advantages:

Very user-friendly interface

A large number of examples

Very well explained tutorials

Interactive simulation

Good option, just to get started in this field

Disadvantages:

Very limited libraries

3
Despite having component placement and automatic routing, it is

very effective.

Low-quality 3D simulation and visualization

Adobe Illustrator is a vector graphics editor in the form of an art workshop that

works on a drawing board, known as 'work table' and is intended for

the artistic creation of drawing and painting for illustration, to create and design images.

it is used for editing among other things

Advantages:

Their graphic pieces can be used for layout, web design, drawings.

vector graphics, graphics for mobile, etc.

Disadvantages:

Does not have a range of effects in photographs.

SolidWorks is a CAD software for mechanical modeling in 2D and 3D, developed

currently by SolidWorks Corp., a subsidiary of Dassault Systèmes, S.A., for the

Microsoft Windows operating system.

Advantages:

Precise dimensional modeling

Surfaces of solid parts are differentiated, which is more similar to the

real product

Ability to simulate materials (physical properties, mechanical properties, assemblies)

4
Ease in the creation of plans, views, isometrics, material breakdowns

Ability to modify initial operations

Disadvantages:

Complex surface modeling

Very high modeling time when working with complex parts

Very limited rendering engine

SketchUp is a graphic design and three-dimensional modeling program based on

in faces. It is used for modeling urban planning environments,

architecture, civil engineering, industrial design, scenic design, GIS, video games or

movies.

Advantages:

It's free.

Easy to use and easy to learn.

With the web version of the application, you can create your designs without needing to

install programs on a PC without having to worry about installing

updates.

You can work on 2D and 3D projects with the Pro version.

The free version provides advanced tools to create and edit solids.

scaling models, object rotation, creation of 3D texts and many more.

It allows you to work with reusable components to create more objects.

complex.

5
It has a very comprehensive color tool that allows you to apply color.

to your three-dimensional pieces.

It has a huge library of 3D models that can be downloaded for free.

free.

With the SketchUp Mobile Viewer App, you can download the models to your

phone or tablet and show your 3D models to anyone anywhere

place.

From the 3D Warehouse you can add all the free extensions for

complete the program tools.

You can export the 3D designs to STL format using the free extension.

SketchUp STL by SketchUp Team.

The Plus Spec plugin allows you to create more user-friendly BIM packages.

Disadvantages:

The VRay engine is quite difficult to learn and consumes a lot of resources.

program that limits the design time and final quality.

It is not available for Linux.

3D Studio Max is a 3D graphics and animation creation program

developed by Autodesk, specifically the Autodesk Media & Entertainment division

Advantages:

Superb final image quality, options included.

Ease, job market, a lot of information

6
Disadvantages:

Difficult to use

we need to distinguish the uses that will be given
