SYNTACTIC FUNCTIONS

(In all exercises, you should also specify the type of PHRASE apart from
the SYNTACTIC FUNCTION that is requested of you

1. Locate the subject in the following simple sentences:


Some human beings are deeply afraid of loneliness.
You first arrived late to the concert.
A letter arrived for Luis.
The two friends were happily walking through the mountain.
I am worried about his/her attitude.

Your sister gave me the mirror.

2. Locate the DIRECT OBJECT (DO) in the following sentences:


Since I was very small, I have hated the witch's train.
He gave the child many candies.
Nobody liked the movie.
He wrote two letters to his friend from Madrid.
Your uncle kept the newspaper in that cabinet.
I can't stand your anger.
I was constantly looking at the clock.

3. Locate the INDIRECT OBJECT (IO) in the following sentences:


The president addressed a few words to the attendees.
A bear appeared to the two friends
He gave the gift to his mother during dinner.
We have already bought the bike from your brother.
He let out an agonizing groan to everyone.

4. Indicate whether the following sentences contain a direct object or an attribute:

My teacher seems sick.


No one stopped the thief.
No person is illegal.
Young people are the future of the country.
In that attraction, children go through a dark place.
The whole class is scared.
The table was green.
Everything is fine
He remembered the moments with nostalgia.

5. Locate in which sentence there is a COMPLEMENT OF REGIME (CR):

The coach complained about the referee.

The shooting stars were seen by all the tourists.
He searched for his notes all over the house.
She has been deceived by Pedro.
I worry about your health.
He resolved that issue amicably.

7. Locate the Predicative Complement (PC) or the Complement


Circumstantial of Manner (CCM) in the following sentences:
The children arrived quickly at the dining room.
Motorcycles pass quickly through the polygon.
I bought the extremely cheap apartment
Nadal was proclaimed champion of the tournament.
The flowers grow fresh in the garden.
The protesters shouted angrily at the door of the counselor.
My parents arrived home safely from the trip.
