🌸 20-Minute Ganesh Chaturthi Skit – Full Student Role Plan & Scene Details

🎤 Narrators (2 students)

 Reader 1 (calm, divine voice, explains background).

 Reader 2 (adds drama, emotional tones).


👉 They stand at the side of the stage with mics, never moving.

🕉 Main Characters

1. Goddess Parvati – loving, graceful, emotional.

2. Lord Shiva – powerful, commanding, yet calm.

3. Lord Ganesha – playful, innocent, brave.

4. Kartikeya – energetic, proud, competitive.

5. Nandi – loyal, persuasive.

6. 2 Shiva Soldiers – for battle scene.

👥 Supporting Characters

 3–4 Additional Soldiers/Devas – to make the fight scene grand.

 2 Helpers – bring props (elephant head, garland, etc.), also double as attendants.

🎶 Chorus / Sloka Chanters (4–6 students)

 Recite shlokas in unison.

 Sit in the corner with folded hands.

 Can softly play dhol, manjira, or clap rhythmically.

🪔 Scene-by-Scene Breakdown

Scene 1: Parvati Creates Ganesha (4 minutes)

Narration:
 R1: “Long ago, Goddess Parvati longed for a son who would stay with her always.”

 R2: “From the sandal paste she used for her bath, she shaped a little boy and gave
him life. That boy was named Ganesha!”

Action:

 Parvati slowly makes gestures of shaping a boy from clay (use soft cloth or prop).

 Chorus chants softly: “Om Gan Ganapataye Namah” in background.

 Ganesha “wakes up,” bows to her.

Dialogues:

 Parvati (smiling, hands on his head): “My son, guard the door while I bathe. Do not
let anyone in.”

 Ganesha (nodding): “Yes, Mother. I will obey you.”

(Parvati exits as if going to bathe, Ganesha stands guarding the door with a toy gada.)

Scene 2: Shiva Returns (3 minutes)

Narration:

 R1: “Just then, Lord Shiva, Parvati’s husband, returned home.”

 R2: “But little Ganesha, not knowing who Shiva was, stopped him at the door!”

Dialogues:

 Shiva (stern, raising hand): “Move aside, child. This is my home.”

 Ganesha (firmly): “Mother told me not to let anyone in. You cannot pass!”

 Nandi (to Ganesha): “This is Lord Shiva himself! Let him enter!”

 Ganesha (shaking head, brave): “No. I’ll follow only my mother’s command.”

Action:

 Soldiers + Kartikeya try to convince him. Ganesha stands tall.

Scene 3: The Battle (4 minutes)

Narration:

 R1: “Shiva was surprised by the boy’s courage.”

 R2: “But anger grew, and a fight broke out between Shiva’s army and little Ganesha!”
Action:

 Playful battle scene. Soldiers circle Ganesha, he pushes them back (no rough play,
just gestures).

 Kartikeya joins in—Ganesha still resists.

 Finally, Shiva lifts his trident.

Narration continues:

 R1: “In his anger, Shiva struck Ganesha…”

 R2: “And little Ganesha fell to the ground.”

Action:

 Ganesha lies down, soft music/silence.

 Parvati rushes in.

Dialogues:

 Parvati (crying, arms wide): “Oh Shiva! You have harmed our own son!”

Scene 4: Ganesha is Reborn (4 minutes)

Narration:

 R1: “Shiva realized his mistake and promised to bring Ganesha back.”

 R2: “He ordered his followers to bring the head of the first living being they found—
an elephant.”

Action:

 Helpers bring an elephant head prop.

 Shiva gently places it on Ganesha.

Dialogues:

 Shiva (blessing): “From today, you shall be known as Ganesha, the remover of
obstacles. You will be worshipped before any new beginning.”

 Parvati (hugging him): “My son, you are blessed!”

Chorus recites:
“Vakratunda Mahakaya Suryakoti Samaprabha
Nirvighnam Kurume Deva Sarva Karyeshu Sarvada.”
Scene 5: Ganesha and Kartikeya – Who is Greater? (5 minutes)

Narration:

 R1: “One day, Sage Narada came to Kailash with a divine fruit of wisdom.”

 R2: “Shiva decided that only one son could receive it—whoever first circled the world
three times.”

Action:

 Kartikeya runs in circles around the stage, acting fast.

 Ganesha stands, thinks deeply.

Dialogues:

 Ganesha (smiling): “The whole world is nothing but my parents. I will circle them.”

 (He walks around Shiva and Parvati three times, bows.)

Narration:

 R1: “Shiva and Parvati were touched by his wisdom.”

 R2: “They declared Ganesha the winner, the lord of wisdom and knowledge.”

Chorus softly chants: “Ganpati Bappa Morya!”

Finale (2 minutes)

Narration:

 R1: “And that is how Lord Ganesha came to be worshipped before every beginning.”

 R2: “He brings wisdom, prosperity, and joy wherever he is remembered.”

Action:

 All characters join centre stage, hands folded in namaste.

 Chorus leads audience: “Ganpati Bappa…” (Audience responds “Morya!” 2–3 times.)

Curtain closes with chant and music.

 Chorus: White kurta, dupatta, tilak.
