Experiment 4: Hydraulic Vice
Introduction:
Hydraulic vice is used for clamping objects by placing them on the table and then
closing the movable jaw till a required pressure is reached.
Figure 1: Example for hydraulic vice
Experiment Objectives:
To be familiar with a pressure sequence circuit
Development of hydraulic circuit diagram
Drawing the displacement-step diagram
Practical assembly of the circuit
Systematic commissioning with setting of pressure and flow rate
Experiment Description
Figure 2: Hydraulic vice
1- The hydraulic vice is used to press work pieces together for drilling.
Industrial Automation Department 1 Hydraulic - Basic
2- Cylinder 1A1 presses a workpiece into the housing. This operation should be
carried out slowly at a constant speed.
3- When the pressure in cylinder 1A1 has reached 20 bar (workpiece pressed
into place).
4- A hole is drilled through the workpiece and housing. The drill is driven by a
hydraulic motor.
5- After the drilling operation, the drill is switched OFF and cylinder 1A1 is
retracted
