Experiment 4: Hydraulic Vice

Introduction:
Hydraulic vice is used for clamping objects by placing them on the table and then
closing the movable jaw till a required pressure is reached.

Experiment Objectives:
 To be familiar with a pressure sequence circuit
 Development of hydraulic circuit diagram
 Drawing the displacement-step diagram
 Practical assembly of the circuit
 Systematic commissioning with setting of pressure and flow rate

Experiment Description

1- The hydraulic vice is used to press work pieces together for drilling.

2- Cylinder 1A1 presses a workpiece into the housing. This operation should be
carried out slowly at a constant speed.
3- When the pressure in cylinder 1A1 has reached 20 bar (workpiece pressed
into place).
4- A hole is drilled through the workpiece and housing. The drill is driven by a
hydraulic motor.
5- After the drilling operation, the drill is switched OFF and cylinder 1A1 is
retracted
