Project Guides

The document discusses guidelines for developing business intelligence systems, games, and mobile games/applications. It outlines key components that should be included in business intelligence systems like OLAP, analytics, performance management, real-time BI, and data mining. For game development, it recommends games be implemented in 3D when appropriate, have clear rules, goals, and outcomes tied to player actions. Mobile game guidelines suggest considering factors like usability, mobility, gameplay, and playability to support different players and devices and avoid wasted time or repetitive tasks.

M GUIDE 1. Presence of the major components of BI: On-line Analytical Processing (OLAP) provides multidimensional, summarized views of business data used for reporting, analysis, modeling and planning for optimizing the business and keep the management informed about the state of their business Advanced Analytics includes data mining, forecasting or predictive analytics based on certainty measures on facts to discover trends and analyze critical factors by using statistical analysis techniques Corporate Performance Management provides portals, scorecards and dashboards to monitor key performance indicators in real time and critical financial metrics and relates it to other components like organizational learning and growth metrics Real Time BI allows real time distribution of metrics through email, messaging systems and/or other interactive displays Data Mining (Extract, Transform and Load or ETL) extracts information from large data sets (various sources and multiplatform) to form integrated data for use in all levels of decision making 2. Supports All levels of decision making Operational (Decisions that are related to and affect the ongoing operations of an organization based on up-to-date financial data, sales and co-operation with suppliers and customers) , Strategic (Decisions that set objectives and that are made to realize those objectives) and Tactical (Decisions related to marketing, sales, finance and capital management usually in support strategic decisions) 3. Supports Customer Intelligence provides a complete, 360 degrees view of all customer interactions, so businesses can better understand needs, behaviors and preferences 4. Provides Complete Report Generation Sample reports include: Standard Reports (Fixed reports scheduled and made available to users at specific point in time or at user request without further required input), Parameter Reports (Reports of fixed lay-out, available at user request, requiring input of some parameters when the user launches the report), Adhoc Reports (Report created by the user on the spot, either starting from an existing standard or parameter report or from scratch), and other reports needed by the organization.

Implemented in a 3D environment whenever appropriate Should have pre-defined rules which are clearly demonstrated in the game itself Should have clearly set goals for the player Should have variable outcomes associated with the players actions, choices and behavior In a game with a theme, the game should represent the real world scenarios and environment Non gambling in nature and non discriminatory Should comply player expectations like: Challenges Socializations (whenever applicable) Consistent world Able to understand the game-worlds bounds Reasonable solutions to work Accomplish a task incrementally Immersed Fail Fair chance Not to repeat themselves Not to get hopelessly stuck To do not to watch Game Genre (Action game, Role-playing game, Adventure game, strategy game, Simulations, Sports game, Puzzle game, on-line game, etc.) should be clear Platform should be completely stated and followed (Hardware implementation, Software requirements, Programming languages, Single or multiplayer platform, etc) Incorporate sounds and videos whenever applicable Employ Artificial Intelligence (AI) whenever applicable (Allow dynamic reactions to users and/or build really good opponents) Employ physics and interactions in the game Define the parameters of the game objects User interface should be simple and clear for easy gameplay (Design of the controls/buttons/keys; Design of the menu/options/screen; Timer, text, and graphics design; etc.)

TECHNOLOGICAL INSTITUTE OF THE PHILIPPINES Quezon City College of Information Technology Education Capstone 1/Thesis 1 MOBILE GAME DEVELOPMENT GUIDE 1. Initial playability heuristics Dont waste players time Prepare for interruptions Take other persons into account Provide gameplay help Differentiation between the device user interface (UI) and the game user interface should be evident Use terms that are familiar to the player Status of the characters and the game should be clearly visible The player should have clear goals Support a wide range of players and playing styles Dont encourage repetitive and boring tasks 2. Game usability heuristics (user-game interaction) Audio-visual representation supports the game Screen layout is efficient and visually pleasing Device UI and game UI are used for their own purposes Indicators are visible The player understands the terminology Navigation is consistent, logical and minimalist Control keys are consistent and follow standard conventions Game controls and convenient and flexible The game gives feedback on the players actions The player cannot make irreversible errors The players does not have to memorize things unnecessarily The game contains help 3. Mobility heuristics (implementation in a mobile phone) The game and play sessions can be stated quickly The game accommodates with the surroundings Interruptions are handled reasonably 4. Gameplay heuristics (game mechanics and the game itself) The game provide clear goals and player-created goals The player sees the progress in the game and can compare the results The players are rewarded and the rewards are meaningful The player is in control Challenge, strategy and pace are in balance The first-time experience is encouraging The game story supports the gameplay and is meaningful There are no repetitive and boring tasks

The players can express themselves The game supports different playing styles The game does not stagnate The game is consistent The game uses orthogonal unit differentiation The player does not lose any hard-won possessions
