Bridging Academic Excellence and Multilingual Support for At-Risk Youth
In my academic journey at the University of Alberta, I have excelled in courses such as
Developmental Psychology, Clinical Psychology, and Neurosciences, deepening my
understanding of the intricacies of human behaviour and mental health. As an international
student, I bring a unique perspective and ability to serve more than a bilingual, contributing to
the diversity of Boyle Street Education Centre's (BSEC) community.
My proficiency in multiple languages positions me to effectively communicate with the
diverse student population at BSEC, fostering a supportive and inclusive environment. I am
keenly aware of the importance of cultural sensitivity, especially when addressing the needs of
Indigenous students. My commitment to understanding the ongoing trauma and intergenerational
impact of residential schools reflects my dedication to creating a safe space for all students.
In developmental psychology courses, I have gained insights into the factors influencing
adolescent development. Combined with my coursework in clinical psychology, this knowledge
enables me to approach the integral duties of the Psychology Intern role at BSEC with a
well-rounded perspective. I am excited about the prospect of applying this understanding to
conduct in-depth intake interviews and contribute to the formulation of Student Success Plans.
Furthermore, my coursework in neurosciences has equipped me with a foundation to
comprehend the neurobiological aspects of mental health, enhancing my ability to collaborate
with the on-site assessment psychologist at BSEC. I am eager to engage in the scoring of mental
health assessment tools and academic tests, contributing to a holistic approach to student
well-being.
As someone deeply passionate about adolescent/young adult education and mental health,
I am enthusiastic about the opportunity to support students in their academic and personal
growth. My academic achievements, coupled with my international background and linguistic
capabilities, position me as a candidate ready to bring both academic excellence and multilingual
support to the Psychology Intern position at BSEC.
I look forward to the possibility of contributing to the transformative work at Boyle Street
Education Centre and am excited about the potential impact we can make together.
