Statement of Purpose - Mukherjee Fellowship 2025-2026

Since my university days, I have been deeply interested in the wide scope of the impact
consulting field and how it functions in real life. I was always eager to take up opportunities that
could give me a deeper understanding of real-world impact work, as I have always wanted to
work in a field where I can create meaningful change. This curiosity led me to take part in
various university forums, mock parliaments, and policy discussions, where I began to truly
understand the challenges and opportunities of public service.

When I came across the Mukherjee Fellowship Program and saw how it is focused on giving
young professionals hands-on experience in policymaking and political strategy, I became
excited by the program, as it can help me gain practical insights into Indian politics,
policymaking, and how real-world implementation happens under the guidance of experienced
leaders.

I aspire to have a prolonged career in the field of impact consulting and policymaking. Thus, this
program can prove to be my entry into the world of public policy. My academic background and
professional experience are both in a technical field, which has trained me in logical thinking,
data analysis, detailed report preparation, and structured problem-solving. These skills further
strengthen my ability to transform complex information into actionable insights. I believe these
skills are highly useful in a time when good governance increasingly relies on evidence-based
decisions and strategic planning. I can bring both technical skills and a deep interest in public
service to the table. I enjoy analyzing complex issues and explaining them in simple ways. This
can help bridge the gap between policymakers and the people.

What excites me about the Mukherjee Fellowship is its focus on understanding Indian society,
law, economics, political communication, and parliamentary procedures. This aligns seamlessly
with my long-term goal of building a career at the intersection of policy and public service. I also
believe the chance to interact with experienced mentors and advisors will give me the exposure
and guidance I need at this stage in my career.

Apart from academics, I have always taken part in extracurricular activities, which have helped
me grow as an effective communicator and a team player. I enjoy listening to different
viewpoints and working with people from diverse backgrounds. These experiences have made
me more open-minded and adaptable, and I hope to bring these qualities into the fellowship. As
someone looking to transition from a technical background to the world of governance, I can
bring a fresh, solution-oriented perspective to the space. I am eager to learn, to serve, and to
make a meaningful contribution to our democratic process. I see this fellowship not just as a
career step, but as a chance to give back and be part of something larger than myself.

Thank you for considering my application.
