1. Broderick Steve Harvey is an American television presenter, comedian, actor, and producer. He
has played a huge role for his powerful words of inspirations to comfort or encourage different
souls. I respect and admire him for his superb acting to change people lives by writing self-help
books. His books include straight talks, act like a success, think like a success: discovering your
gift and a way to life’s riches (2014) etc. His comedians’ stories have brought so much happiness
to audiences or followers, and I will always honor his talent frequently or many times.
Broderick Steve Harvey meaning of the name “Steve ” is a crown or wreath of honor. Steven
Harvey has followed his name because people are honoring his brilliant and powerful words,
and I believe Steve Harvey lives up for his name as he’s known as a king. Harvey means “battle
of worthy” or “strong battle”, this shows the power to withstand hardships and resilience to
overcome battles. This name has made Harvey family more popular due to its corresponded
meaning that reflects their desire for strength and courage. He always plays a prominent role in
stages by encouraging people on how to fight their love relationships, spiritual battles and
success by creating self-help books and formerly hosted the comedy of judge steven Harvey that
honored him to be known as crown king. Additionally, his talent to create a happiness to
community and inspiration to his work aligns with his name.
2. A different kind of appearance Steve Harvey’s accent showed his multilingual and several
cultures. His accent was published in different languages this includes English, Zulu etc. In most
cases English was his official language, and many followers enjoyed his presence of uplifting
different linguistic and cultural contexts. Harvey’s radio show was advising callers about
relationships and other personal difficulties, his motivations, and inspirations was so brilliant
and that day I realized that Steven Harvey is an eloquent talented speaker. I remember listening
to his ideas on how to prioritize and being able to stand up on your own” I felt his words. His
accent touched so many souls including myself, and uplifted the diversity of south Africa.
TASK 2
WEDDING CEREMONY
1. I attended a traditional wedding ceremony; this wedding was filled with love and moment in the
union of two future soulmates. The wedding took place in a beautiful home village and venue was
decorated with both traditional and contemporary elements; this refers to couples’ different styles. The
traditional wedding was overcrowded with almost 500 different religions, and ceremony consisted of
various component such as opening sessions, vows, exchanges of rings, family or friends present, food
and celebration of perfect wedding.
In the ceremony the were different people with different languages such as isiZulu, isiXhosa, and Venda.
However, the primary language spoken during the ceremony was Xhosa and English as official language.
The wedding was represented by a Xhosa traditional man who followed Xhosa cultural rules accordingly.
We were interacting with each other sharing ideas, thought and congratulated our bride and broom
using our language effectively and in an orderly manner. at the wedding we also focused on the attitude
and world-view in order to learn new words, phrases and sentenced which appeared in different
conservations. The Xhosa traditional man Mr. Z. Phangalele as (speaker), and audiences as (hearers)
listened messages sent by a speaker and acquiesced to them eloquently. The Xhosa, Zulu and English
language spoken in conservation by speaker and hearers was amiable. The bilingual communication
added extent and personalization to the event, allowing different religious families or visitors to feel
welcomed in the traditional ceremony.
2. The ceremony was related to my own language and culture, every traditional type which was
performed during the ceremony was according to our cultures rules, this includes traditional clothes,
traditional food and traditional beer (umqombothi). The use of my primary language was easy for
attenders to communicate with each other fluently and shared different point of views about the
traditional rituals. Performed cultures were two, therefore a Xhosa culture was represented (broom)
and Zulu represented (bride), the presence of different traditions resonated with me to be married as
also my heritage includes mix of Muslim and Xhosa. The blending of cultures displayed to best effect of
celebrating our language standardization to our couples, which created to me sense of getting married
so that I can connect with my language cultures and my family.
3.
OPENING PRAYER: The opened prayer was to bless the couples with many more years of happiness and
also to honor the wedding of ceremony to greatest extent of something more spiritual. This was to a
way of directing the ceremony to happy moment filled with gods presence and his powerful role for
protecting everyone in the wedding. The prayer played a huge for reuniting couples with faith and
powerful words.
VOWS EXCHANGE: the heartfelt oath vows shared by couples to another were profoundly touching. This
filled some people with tears of joy and created signified meaning of love in people’s lives including the
couple. The wedding vow was to showcase a declaration of one’s love and commitment to one another.
The moment of their vows was the deepest scene which set serious moment in the ceremony which
weaved and opened old wounds to widows, and blessed unmarried partners with hope and excitement.
TRADITIONAL DANCE AND MUSIC
Couples first dance was stylish and newlyweds although they were so demure a delightful moment was
filled with god’s presence. Traditional dance and music lifted the mood of the event to unforgettable
moments, everyone was celebrating including (elderly mothers) they felt like young stars. Accompanied
by honored guest such DJ TIRA and Bethulisile, created a spirit of joy and celebration. The moment
touched communities to support for the couples and inspired everyone to send gift. The ritual played a
huge role and encouraged loneliness people to find soulmates so that they could build bonds between
their families.
4. My experience at this wedding was beyond my reasonable doubt, I believed that traditional wedding
has opened my eyes and I developed a deeper understanding of my culture and its significance
comparing to my previous knowledge of the cultural wedding traditions. Amiable interactions between
the speaker and hears was eloquently and magically. The cooperation between marriage couples and
community members was impressive, this reflected to the support of participation e.g., gift. Moreover,
the opening prayer shared by pastor was powerful than I thought, emotional oath vows shared by
married couples and the celebration moment during the ceremony wiped grief pains to tears of joy. The
energy vibe occurred offered more visions of how multicultural weddings can bounce values while
celebrating people’s social heritage. The experience to expectations lightened my perception of decency
shown in weddings, and interest in cultural narratives.
5 . The second language from brides side was challenging to me and some rituals were unfamiliar from
Xhosa rituals. Certain symbolic gestures caught me off guide and required me to learn more often
through them. Understanding of deeper meaning at the same time was challenging because isizulu was
not my home language although I understood it, but specific actions and symbols were different
comparing to Xhosa culture context. Integrated ancestral belief may be challenging to an outsider to
understand due to compounded cultural types and the interpret may help an outsider to understand
specific meaning of cultural context. The Zulu group of people with the ceremony were different and
confusing to interpret their role of gender, as their traditional clothes were deeply rooted in Zulu culture
and may not correspond to a way of regarding cultures.
6. I navigated this cultural differences and language barriers by asking question and seeking an
interpretation that removes obstacles to understand the full comprehension and meaning of Zulu
cultural context to a friend. I participated in the ceremony and listened carefully in order to understand
their perspective cultural norms. My intentions was to fill lack of knowledge and enhance my experience
with cultural contexts. This improved my power of perception to the world of culture, this include
clarification of their role, different styles of dress, and rules of order in various situations. My
determination was to learn new cultural different and show respect to different cultures and languages.
7. The have been changes in the ceremony I attended, this includes modernism rituals (fertility and
giving, attire style) and incorporation of new element. The was represented by a Xhosa traditional man
and changed to Zulu traditional man (societal shift) and digital cameras, drone photography and live
wedding streaming (technological advancement). The replacement of Xhosa traditional clothes to Zulu
traditional clothes to signify their heritage and identify. The changes of dress from brom side to brides
side was to welcome the bride and integration into the family. Those clothes were deeply carried and
significant meaning, relying to the way of regarding our values and beliefs. Traditional clothes honored
Xhosa and Zulu dignity and their cultural heritage. Traditional ritual changes have taken place, like wise
the disappearing of bride and the groom has to point his bride directly. These changesh has overall
experience and meaning to the culture.
Positive changes may reflect to the increase of visitors, modern fashion created a sense and beautiful of
the culture. A good ceremony has its foundation of welcoming visitors and give attention of respect and
ensuring diversity at ability level. Detection of famous D. J, photographs and create contents and
improvements of needs such food, drinks and happiness. Participation of different cultures and
neighbors and family, however sharing of gift to couples show support and kindness. At the same time
negative changes include a bad service to visitors and cultural ritual which makes no clear identity and
no values. Constant fighting changes the moments of vibes to arguments or disagreement. Changes
observed in the ceremony include the venue, from Kolonga villa to Xonxa dam although they were to
enhance, but decreased the number of participations.
8. I would love to attend another cultural ceremony in future. Experiencing different traditions and
custom encourage a way of regarding situations and understanding the world. It promotes opportunities
for us to learn and look forward of our values and other culture in respective of showing empathy.
Attending other ceremony activities can have a significant way of connecting people together from
different backgrounds. This helps us to learn more often about our cultural sensitivity and this help to
avoid lack of knowledge and misunderstanding. Attending another cultural ceremony would give me
time to understand and accept their differences. Moreover, learning other cultures elevates my
challenges, and this is a way of gaining new opportunity to consume new information and idealize it
differently. Attending other ceremony activities creates an easy sensation and acknowledge that all are
significant to our background. They empower us to see the bright future of the traditional world.
9. I prefer tradition cultural ceremonies for the following:
Deeper connection of traditional and customs. This improve the connection between me and my
ancestors which promote a sense of togetherness and unity. According to our beliefs, we regard and
respect our ancestors although many other sees us as psychopath instead of respecting our cultures.
Our parents though us to follow traditional cultural to bring ancestors (spiritual) together with us and
it’s a great way to overall chances of luck.
Family and community bonding: Traditional ceremony connect neighbors, friends and families and
create a spirit sense of togetherness. A traditional wedding ceremony creates a special celebration of
love, commitment and family values. This create a moment of healing, bonding and makes everyone feel
welcome or comfortable. Lastly, it also connects connection communities with their cultural heritage
and create unforgettable memories to last overtime.
Persevering of heritage: it contributed situations of regarding various cultural customs and rituals to
future generations. On the other hand, improves our cultural values and roots. Persevering of heritage
will encourage youth to learn and look forward to act for the future this include priority individuality and
cultural intelligence.
Promotion of cultural persistence and pride: Traditional wedding ceremonies often create a worthy of
belief and sense of understanding, as they pay homage attention to customs that have changed our
lives. Cultural customs and rituals changes our lives everyday and its an inspiration to see the bright
future of the traditional world developing more often.
Cultural symbolization and meaning: Traditional custom and rituals symbolize the deeply and spiritual
meaning of cultural context, adding intensity to traditional wedding ceremony. The symbolization and
meaning of cultures direct and build our futures as they deeply rooted significances. .
TASK 3
1. Language is a powerful tool that serves people to communicate with each other. Mnisi (2000:30)
clarify language reflect who we are, where we come from, and cultural backgrounds that
changes our lives. Accents, dialects and language are crucial, the complexity of between
language and identity is researched, and players an important role in shaping our collective
identity. As a core element, it serves a maker language identify, helping a deep perception of a
situation that includes people’s social and geographic origins. Language enhance different
features, includes pronunciations, grammar and vocabulary which can show a speaker ‘s ethnic
group.
Accent refers to as a degree that is common to be a good face of identity. The use of words in
communications can have a slight indication about their socio economic status. The study of
language research indicates that accents can have perception of directing listeners to certain
features on spoken language.
Dialects play an important role for presentation of identity. Dialect contains a variety of
grammar, pronunciations, and vocabulary especially to specific groups. Dialect match up
individuals to resist assimilation to preserve their cultural heritage. Accents and dialects play a
huge role in specific language use such as idioms, incorporation of slang and traditional
references. The language act as boundary maker in different group of people so that they can
communicate effectively abroad.
2. When interacting with friends or family from different backgrounds, I’ve seen several linguistic

When interacting with friends or family from different backgrounds, I’ve seen several linguistic
trait that showed their identity. One of the most crucial trait was the use of formal language in
groups of friends to show respect and professionalism, which is common to happen in many
cultures such as Muslims, the use of informal language or rule language in their speech was
noticeable and un allowed to happen in the context of communication.
According to my language contact emphasizes more direct and formal communication with high
emphasis on professionalism in everyday interaction e.g. at work or home. This improved the
context of communication effectively. The differences in linguistic traits encompass the effect of
cultural values on language use such respect, the use of direct and indirect communication, and
the significant role of understanding context and meaning.
3 In dipuo’s story, the analysis of Kinship terms are not just words used to describe
relationships, but they are symbols that encapsulate cultural context, and shapes cultural
identity. Dipuo’s story, differ mostly across cultures, some various societies have specific terms
for different families while others have a great extent of inclusive terms. These encompasses the
importance of regarding each culture, and social structures.
In most families, there are distinct rules for child born of unmarried parent or a single parent
therefore grandmother is responsible to play his role as a mother and to claim to be a mother.
At the same time, all mothers in Xhosa Languages are mothers to everyone and a child must
respect and another women “mother”. This multiplicity meaning instances of integrative placed
on lineage and in specific cultures, while in other family the importance may be demonstrated
by extended members e.g. Family or friends.
4 family plays a huge role in language acquisition and cultural distribution. The way family
members interact with each other reflect to training of learning new word. The specific way to
communication with elders is to show respect or formal language within the family context.
Family gatherings, and storytelling within the family contribute to continuation of cultural
heritage and language acquisitions.
Minors learn language from their family members. They are responsible to act more than like
teachers, providing exposure to vocabulary, grammar and speech. Families learns different
cultures throughout the language, for instance storytelling and songs. The way family members
interact with each other reflect to social norm. The family does not only teach by to make them
understand the full comprehension and meaning.
