Subject: Request for Absence

Dear Attendance Office,

My name is Takeya Habib, Student ID: 60306842. I really don’t know how
to explain this, but my family is going through something urgent right now.
My dad has some problems with property back in Bangladesh with his
brother, and because of that my parents must fly there immediately. Since I
am their daughter, they don’t want to leave me here alone in Doha, so I have
to go with them.

Honestly, this is very stressful for me. I was hoping for this semester to get a
fresh start and do better in my studies because before I wasn’t doing so well.
I really wanted to focus, but now my parents are pushing me more towards
marriage and becoming a housewife, which I don’t want. I just want to
continue my education and not give up on it.

I’m worried because I know if I’m absent for too many days, I won’t be
allowed to sit for exams. That’s why I am begging you to please allow me an
absence for around 20 days until we return. I don’t want this situation to
ruin my only chance to study.

I am fully aware that I can still catch up with my studies online through the
D2L website and the module pages. I will go through all my lectures and
tutorials uploaded there and do my best to stay on track while I am away.

I hope you can understand how important this is to me. I am asking from my
heart. Please give me this chance.
