Global Korea Scholarship Admission Guide (University Track)

Ⅰ. PROGRAM OBJECTIVES

Global Korea Scholarship is designed to provide International students with

opportunities to study at higher educational institutions in Korea at
Bachelor-level degrees, which will contribute to promoting the international
exchange in education and to deepening the mutual friendship among countries.

Ⅳ. ELIGIBILITY

1. Nationality
○ All applicants must hold citizenship of NIIED designated countries that are
invited to take part in the GKS program.
○ All applicants and their parents(or legal guardians) must NOT hold Korean
citizenship. If an applicant or his/her parent(s) hold dual citizenship (one
who have Korean citizenship and citizenship of another country), he/she
is NOT eligible to apply.
○ Applicants and their parents who had previously held Korean citizenship must
submit documentation that proves their renunciation of Korean citizenship.

2. Level of Education
○ Bachelor’s degree program is for applicants who graduated (or are expected
to graduate) from a high school or from an associate degree program.
* Applicants who have a bachelor’s degree cannot apply. Applicants who have
associate degree can only apply to a bachelor’s program.
* Applicants who are expected to graduate must first submit a certificate of
expected graduation at the time of application. If such applicants pass the
final round of selection, they must submit a graduation certificate(or a degree
certificate) by December 31, 2023.
* Applicants who submit their provisional graduation certificate will be considered
as applicants who are expected to graduate.

3. Grades
○ All applicants must have maintained the C.G.P.A equivalent to or higher than any
ONE of the following from their respective universities:
- C.G.P.A 2.64/4.0, 2.80/4.3, 2.91/4.5, 3.23/5.0
※ C.G.P.A : Cumulative Grade Point Average
- Score percentile should be 80% or above on 100-point scale or be ranked
within the top 20% within one’s class (*Refer to Appendix A. GPA conversion table)
○ If an applicant holds a transcript that does not include information on grade

 point average or is unable to convert his or her grades into any one of the GPA
criteria mentioned above, then applicant must submit an official document
issued by the applicants university describing the universitys grading system.

4. Age
○ Must be under 25 years of age (born after March 1, 2000)

5. Health
○ All applicants must be in good health, both mentally and physically, to study
in Korea for the full duration of the academic degree or research programs.

6. Restriction
○ Applicants who have graduated from Korean high school (including
international schools) or who holds a bachelor’s degree are NOT eligible
to apply.
* Applicants who have previously studied in a Korean university as exchange
or visiting students CAN apply.
○ Applicants who have previously received a degree program scholarship from
one of the Korean government scholarship programs NOT eligible to apply.
○ University Track applicants can only apply to ONE university and ONE
department.
○ Former applicants who had withdrawn from the scholarship after being
selected as GKS scholars and who were disqualified during their scholarship
period are NOT eligible to apply.

Ⅵ. IMPORTANT NOTES
○ Application documents must be submitted in the order of the “Application
Checklist”. The Application Checklist will be the front cover of each set
of application documents.
○ If any of the required documents are not submitted or if any of the
application forms are submitted without applicant’s signature, his or her
application documents will be excluded in the selection procedure.
○ All documents should be submitted as a A4 sized documents.
* If a document is smaller than a A4 size document, attach it on a
blank A4 sized paper. If a document is larger than a A4 size
document, fold the document into a A4 size.
- Please number and label each document on the top right corner.

○ All documents submitted will NOT be returned to the applicants in any case
