Ans: Before the Philippine Revolution, Filipino Society was subdivided into

social classification that were based on the economic status of a person.

The two main classes in the system where the highest people in social

scale were members of the Principilia, and the other class was the Masses.

The Spanish people belong to the Principilia classes. The Masses classes

included poor commoners, peasants, and laborers and only enjoyed a few

civil rights and privileges. What causes hurt most the Filipinos is the loss of

Philippine Culture.

Ans: The Katipunan is a secret organization founded by Filipino patriots

Andres Bonifacio, Teodoro Plata, Ladislao Diwa and others. At first,

membership in the Katipunan was only open to male Filipinos; later women

were accepted into the society. The Katipunan's existence was revealed to
the Spanish authorities after a member named Teodoro Patiño reveals the

Katipunan's illegal activities to his sister and to the Mother Portress of

Orphanage. The discovery led to the outbreak of Philippine Revolution.

3. What was the "Cry of Pugadlawin"? What did it signify?

Ans: Cry of Pugadlawin is when Andres Bonifacio and his men tore up

their cedulas, shouting Mabuhay ang Pilipinas. It signifies that they were

willing to fight to the bitter end by tearing up their cedulas to pieces as a

Rizal's death. Which is led first by Andres Bonifacio and later Emilio
Aguinaldo. Rizal's death filled the rebels with new determination, but the

6. Explain why Bonifacio went to Cavite. Was he right going to Cavite?

Why? What trait of character did he show in going to Cavite?

Answer: Bonifacio was invited to Cavite province by rebel leaders to

mediate between them and unify their efforts.

I think Bonifacio isn't right in going to Cavite because at first, he was

stopped in going to Cavite but he refused. And when Bonifacio went to

Cavite, there were rumors subjected to him and there were anonymous

letters sent which told the people of Cavite not to idolize Bonifacio.

Bonifacio suspected the rumor-mongering to be the work of Magdalo leader

Daniela Tirona. He confronted Tirona, whose airy reply provoked Bonifacio

to such anger that he drew a gun and would have shot Tirona if others

have not intervened and he declared the results of Tejeros Convention as

null and void.

When Aguinaldo and Edilberto Evangelist went to receive Bonifacio at

Zapote, they were irritated with what they regarded as his attitude of

superiority. In his memoirs, Aguinaldo wrote that Bonifacio acted "as if he

were a king".

rebels?

Ans: The Tejeros Convention was called to discuss the defense of Cavite

against the Spaniards during the Philippine Revolution. They failed in

unifying the rebels.

Ans: Significance of Katipunan. Bonifacio founded the "Kataastaasang

Kagalanggalangang Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan" (KKK). The

Katipunan had a colorful beginnings. As a symbol of the member's loyalty,

they performed in the solemn rite of Sanduguan, wherein each are signed

his name with his own blood. It signifies how the members of Katipunan

goals to completely separate Philippines from Spain and to teach the

Filipinos good manners, cleanliness, hygiene, fine morals, and how to

guard themselves against religious fanaticism and to encourage Filipinos to

help themselves and to defend the poor oppressed.

Philippine Revolution signifies as the only one that worked. The Spanish

period was marked by more than 200 revolts that failed due to lack of unity.

Bonifacio realizes that and used his considerable organization talent to

remedy that by establishing contacts and cells in other provinces, thus the

Katipunan was the first of its kind, first for Filipinos revolutionaries to see

beyond their own provinces and it worked.
