1.0 INITIATE DESIGN Design review meetings are held to assess whether designs
REVIEW address the requirements of the customer, the design intent,
interfaces between disciplines & optimisation of design. Design
review meetings are undertaken where Genesis are the design
authority.
1.1 Identify requirement for a Review meetings are typically held once the design has been
Design Review sufficiently developed, but not so late that any conclusions from
the Review cannot be acted upon.
1.2 Appoint Review Chairman a c i i A suitably qualified and experienced engineer is nominated to
chair the design review meeting. The Chairman should be
independent from the design team, but suitably competent with
respect to the scope of works.
1.3 Establish attendees c a c The review meeting is attended by the Chairman, Project
Manager, Project Engineer, Lead Engineers/Designers & other
(specialist) input as required.
Where an element of the design is being undertaken by a
subcontractor, they may attend at the discretion of the Lead
Engineer. The PM may invite the customer to attend.
1.4 Set and issue the agenda a i i Multi Disciplinary Design Reviews are primarily intended to review
the design from a holistic viewpoint, and to confirm that interfaces
between disciplines are properly considered.
Single discipline Design Reviews are primarily intended to permit
the input of expertise and to assist the control of design.
1.5 Identify reference a Those responsible for the design prepare a presentation for the
documents review, this will typically cover:
• Client Brief, Functional Specification, Process Description
• Plotplans, layouts, PFD, P&ID, drawings as relevant
• Reports from previous reviews
• Photographs and videos (if available/relevant)
2.0 CONDUCT DESIGN
REVIEW
2.1 Attend Design Review Lead engineers & designers present the design as per the
meeting agenda. Design Review Keywords and Questions can be used to
aid discussion.
2.2 Set actions & take minutes The Chairman issues the minutes from the design review (on form
PRJ-FM-241). The minutes shall include all documents
considered as part of the review, all actions to be taken with a
description of the reason for the action. The Report need not
describe all discussions that took place.

3.0 ACTIONS FROM DESIGN
REVIEW
3.1 Issue the design review i Minutes from the design review are issued to the project team for
minutes action / information.
3.2 Follow up actions i a The Chairman of the Review ensures that the actions are
addressed by those responsible. Actions are progressed through
the same mechanisms as any other actions for the project. On
completion of all actions, the Chairman records this with the
report.
4.0 RECORDS
4.1 File records The closed/actioned design review meeting minutes should be
held with project documentation.
