Speech on World Ozone Day
Good morning, everyone. I'm writing this speech because today,
September 16th, is World Ozone Day, a day to reflect on the
importance of the ozone layer. Did you know that without it, life on
Earth would be exposed to dangerous UV radiation? This invisible
shield plays a crucial role in protecting us, but human activities have
severely damaged it.
The main points I will be talking about are:
Firstly, the role of the ozone layer. It absorbs harmful UV rays,
preventing health issues like skin cancer and cataracts, as well as
protecting ecosystems.
Secondly, the causes of ozone depletion. Harmful chemicals, such as
CFCs found in aerosols and refrigerators, have created a hole in the
ozone layer, increasing exposure to UV radiation.
Next, the solutions and what we can do. Thanks to the Montreal
Protocol, many harmful substances have been banned, but we must
continue making eco-friendly choices, such as using sustainable
products and reducing pollution.
I'd like to end by emphasizing that protecting the ozone layer is not
just a scientific issue—it is a responsibility we all share. I recommend
that we spread awareness, support environmental policies, and take
small steps like avoiding products with harmful chemicals.
We must act now! The future of our planet depends on what we do
today!
O Protocolo de Montreal é um tratado internacional assinado em 1987
para reduzir e eliminar substâncias que destroem a camada de ozono,
como os clorofluorocarbonetos (CFCs). Ele exige que os países
eliminem gradualmente a produção e o uso desses produtos
químicos.
