2.6 Farm manure is rich in fibre that improves the soil structure and its
water retention properties. It is a rich source of nitrogen to organic
farming. Notwithstanding its importance in farming, several factors
may affect the composition of farm manure. Where farmers identify
their soils to be acidic; they apply agricultural lime to
neutralise the soil acidity.
