Dear Hiring Team,
My name is Katy Klein and I am a fourth year student at Syracuse University majoring in Health
Exercise Science on a pre-med track in the Reneé Crown Honor Program. I will be graduating this
&
upcoming May 2026 and I am reaching out to you as I am interested in being a Gap Year Medical
Assistant at Charles River Medical Associates.
Growing up in an active, sports-loving family, I have always been passionate about health and
ellness, whether it was watching or playing sports. As a Pre-medical student, my interest has always
w
been piqued by the thought of being not only involved in what it takes to evaluate and come to a
conclusion, but also to help to come up with solutions. During my time as a Sports Medicine Intern with
the Syracuse Orange Football Team, I have been exposed to in-depth learning about common sports
injuries such as ACL tears, and I am intrigued by the ways that muscles interact and help move bones.
Learning about the steps it takes to not only repair the injury but also the important rehabilitation
following it is something that excites me.
This past summer I worked at Hebrew Senior Life in the Wolk Center for Memory Health helping
out with cognitive assessments such as the MoCA, GDS, and GAD-7. I was able to shadow physicians
and learn a lot about what it takes to be involved in patient care. I gained experience navigating an EHR
and being a medical assistant in your office would expose me to a deeper level of understanding. I am
eager to gain practical knowledge and clinical experience by working alongside and assisting various
clinicians through taking vitals, charting within the EHR, setting up patient rooms, making follow up
appointments, and assisting with small procedures.
In my volunteer work at SUNY Upstate Hospital these past few years, in various departments
such as the ER, PM&R,Child Life and general hospital transport, I was able to practice the values I hold
of being friendly, organized and an excellent communicator. I understand the need to maintain high
professional standards and efficiency to positively represent the hospital. I work well independently and
have the skills needed to see a project through to the end with minimal instruction.
A position with Charles River Medical Associates matches both my personal interests and my
