I. OBJECTIVES

A. Content Standards The learner demonstrates understanding of shapes, textures, colors

and repetition of motif, contrast of motif and color from nature and
found objects.

B. Performance Standards The learner shows skills in making a clear print from natural and
man-made objects.

C. Learning Competency Creates a consistent pattern by making two or three prints that are
repeated or alternated in shape or color. (A2PL – IIIb)

Activities/Responses

A. Review Previous The teacher will ask the pupils to recall

Lessons or Presenting previous lessons about colors and
New Lesson shapes.
The teacher will show flashcards with
different shapes and colors. The pupils
will identify the shapes and colors on
each flashcard.
(Flashcards)

B. Establishing purpose for The teacher will show an example of a

the Lesson pattern (e.g., a row of circles and
squares) and ask the pupils what they
notice about it.
C. Presenting examples The teacher will show some simple
/instances of the new patterns made with objects.
lessons
The teacher will display printed
patterns using leaves, sponges, or
stamps, showing how shapes and
colors can repeat. Pupils will look and
share what they

notice about these

patterns.

(Visual Clues)

D. Discussing new The teacher will discuss about

concepts and practicing Printmaking and Patterns.

The teacher will introduce the idea of
using objects to make patterns and
demonstrate how to use paint with
natural objects, such as leaves.
The teacher will demonstrate how to
dip a leaf into paint and press it onto
paper, showing how it leaves a print.
The teacher will allow the pupils to
observe and analyze the print and
encourage them to ask questions about
it.
An activity will be given afterwards.
Activity: Nature Printmaking
The teacher will provide each pupil with
a set of natural materials such as
leaves, flowers, and small twigs, along
with paint and paper. The teacher will
explain how to create a consistent
pattern by repeating or alternating
shapes and colors. After the
demonstration, the teacher will ask the
pupils to try making their own prints,
encouraging them to explore different
objects and patterns. Once the activity
is complete, the teacher will guide the
pupils in sharing their artwork and
discussing the patterns they created.
(Use of Physical Items/Realia)

E. Discussing new The teacher will explain how patterns

concepts & practicing can be made by repeating or
and concern to new alternating prints in different colors and
skills #2 shapes using found or man-made
objects.
The teacher will model creating a
simple pattern on paper by printing
using a bottlecap, then sponge,
repeating the sequence across the
page.
The teacher will let the pupils observe
and analyze the patterns and
encourage them to ask questions.
An activity will be done afterwards.
Activity: Printmaking with Found
Objects
The teacher will provide each pupil with
a variety of found or man-made
objects, such as bottle caps, sponges,
cardboard cut – out, and plastic lids,
along with washable paint and a large
sheet of paper. Each pupil will choose
the objects they want to use and
decide whether to create a repeating
pattern (e.g., cap, cap, cap) or an
alternating pattern (e.g., cap, sponge,
cap, sponge). Pupils will dip the objects
into the paint and press them onto their
paper to create their prints, making
sure to follow their chosen pattern.
They will experiment with different
shapes, colors, and arrangements to
create a unique design. Once the prints
are complete, each pupil will share
their work with the class and explain
the pattern they created.
(Use of Physical Items/Realia)

F. Developing Mastery The teacher will give a group activity.

(Leads to Formative
Activity: Natural and Man – made Print
Assessment 3)
The teacher will divide the class into
small groups of 3–4 pupils and provide
each group with a large sheet of paper,
a variety of natural objects (such as
leaves, flowers, and twigs), and man-
made objects (such as bottle caps,
sponges, plastic lids, rubber bands,
and cardboard). The teacher will
explain that each group will work
together to create a repeating or
alternating pattern using the objects
provided. Pupils will take turns dipping
the natural and man-made objects into
the paint and pressing them onto the
paper to create their prints, following
the pattern they planned. The teacher
will encourage pupils to experiment
with different objects and colors to
make their designs interesting. Once
the prints are complete, the teacher will
ask each group to present their work to
the class, explaining the pattern they
created and the objects they used.
(Group Activity, Use of Physical
Items/Realia)

G. Making Generalizations The teacher will ask the pupils to reflect

& Abstractions about on what they learned in the lesson
the lessons about creating patterns by asking
questions:
1. What kind of patterns did you
make today? Can you describe
them?
2. What shapes or colors did you
use in your patterns?
3. Can you find patterns in nature,
like in leaves, flowers, or animal
fur?
(Subject Integration: Science)

H. Finding Practical The teacher will help students see how

Applications of concepts the patterns they created in class can
and skills in daily living be used in their everyday lives.
The teacher will ask:
1. Can you find patterns on your
clothes, like on your shirt or
socks?
2. Where else can we see
patterns? Maybe on the floor,
walls, or in nature?
3. Can you use patterns to make
something at home, like a
drawing, card, or a decoration?
(Values Integration: Attention to detail.)

I. Evaluating Learning
Quiz: Do It Yourself Pattern Making

 Prepare Your Materials: Get a

piece of cardboard or thick
paper, a pencil, scissors,
washable paint, and a large
sheet of paper.
 Draw Your Shapes: Use your
pencil to draw simple shapes
like circles, squares, triangles,
or shapes inspired by nature
(e.g., leaves or flowers).
 Cut Out the Shapes: Carefully
cut out the shapes with scissors
to create your stencils.
 Start Printing: Dip your stencil
into paint, then press it onto the
large sheet of paper to make a
print.
 Create a Pattern: Repeat or
alternate your shapes and
colors to make a consistent and
unique pattern.
 Add Details (Optional): Once
the paint is dry, use markers or
other materials to add extra
details to your design.
 Display Your Work: Show off
your beautiful patterns to the
class!
