SYMBO
Symbo (Periodic Table Bingo) is a fun and interactive game where players match
chemical element names to their corresponding symbols on a bingo-style card. It
combines learning and excitement by helping students recall elements in the periodic
table while racing to complete patterns and shout “Symbo!”.
Mechanics
1. Game Materials
● Symbo Cards: Each card contains a random arrangement of
chemical symbols
● (e.g., H, O, Na, Cl).
● Calling List: The game master has a list of all elements with their
corresponding names and symbols.

● Markers: Players use chips, coins, or pens to mark their cards.
2. Objective
● Be the first to complete the required pattern on the card (e.g., one
line, four corners, blackout/full card, etc.).
3. How to Play
● Each player receives a Symbo card.
● The game master randomly picks and announces the name of an
element (e.g.,“Oxygen”).
● Players look for the symbol of that element (e.g., O) on their card. If
it appears, they mark it.
● The game continues with the master calling different element
names.
● When a player completes the winning pattern, they must shout
“Symbo!”
4. Verification
● The game master checks the winning card by reviewing the marked
symbols against the called elements.
● If correct, the player wins. If not, the game continues
Damath Game Mechanics
1. Players
● Each program must have 1 representative.
● Two players compete against each other.
● Each player has 12 pieces placed on the dark squares of the first three rows of
their side of the board.
2. Board
● The board is an 8×8 grid like in checkers.
● Each square has a number with a mathematical operation (e.g., +, −, ×, ÷).
● Operations are applied whenever a capture is made.
3. Moves
● Pieces move diagonally forward (one square at a time).

Email:
[email protected] OFFICE OF THE FUTURE SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY LEADERS OF THE PHILIPPINES
● When a piece reaches the opponent’s last row, it is promoted to a “Dama” (King),
which can move diagonally forward and backward.
4. Capturing
A player captures by jumping diagonally over an opponent’s piece into an empty
square, like in checkers. Multiple jumps are allowed in one turn.
Each capture involves a mathematical operation using:
● The number on the square where the capturing piece lands, and
● The number written on the captured piece.
● The result of the operation is the score gained for that capture.
5. Scoring
● Add up the points from all captures made during the game.
● If an operation results in a decimal, round it off (depending on classroom rules).
● Illegal moves or wrong calculations may result in a deduction (teacher/referee
decides).
6. Winning
The game ends when:
● All of one player’s pieces are captured.
● The 10-minute game period lapsed; the moves are repetitive; a player has no
more chips to move; an opponent's chip is 'cornered
● The remaining chip or chips of the players are to be added to their respective
scores. If the remaining chip is a 'dama', then its score is also doubled.
● The player with the greater accumulated total score wins the game
7. Fair Play
● Players must calculate aloud after every capture (to practice math).
● A teacher or arbiter checks the correctness of scores.
