Nurturing global talents who will become bridges
between Korea and the world—with this slogan as

September 2023 as an academic division dedicated
to international students, welcoming an increasing
number of enrollments every semester. In 2026, AI
Design and Computer Software will open applications

international students like me. On top of that, the
transportation is great, so it’s a comfortable place to
live and study.

What do you study in Culture & Media?
This major is pretty unique, as it lets you explore
Korean culture and modern media from a global
perspective. We dive into various cultural content in
Korea, including K-pop, Korean dramas, movies,
webtoons, and games, getting to understand them
on a deeper level. We also get hands-on experience
with things like media planning and production. The
curriculum covers a wide range of topics like cultural
theory, digital content, social media marketing, and
media literacy. It’s all designed to help us build
practical skills that are useful globally. The professors
are also really kind and approachable. They speak
slowly so international students can understand
easily, and they’re always happy to talk or answer
questions. Thanks to that, I feel comfortable and
supported in my studies.

Any advice for international students
preparing to study in Korea?
If you’re thinking about studying in Korea, I recommend
asking yourself why you want to study here and
what kind of culture or media you’re interested in.
Studying Korean is important, but you also need to
remember that holding on to your dreams and passions
will really enrich your experience. It takes courage to
step into a new culture, but that challenge will
definitely become a valuable part of your future. It’s
totally normal to feel unsure or nervous, but I
recommend that you approach it with the feeling of
adventure. I hope to see you at Konkuk University
someday!

Why did you choose Konkuk University?
I think the biggest charm of Konkuk University is its
beautiful campus and great location. It’s right in the
heart of Seoul, which makes everyday life super
convenient. But once you’re on campus, it’s quiet
and surrounded by nature, so it feels like my stress
is melting away every time I come to school.
I especially love how the lake and the pretty
buildings come together to create such a scenic
view all year round. It makes you want to take a
walk, no matter the season.
02
What do you study in Educational
Technology?
My major, Educational Technology, is actually a
pretty rare program. There are only four universities
in Korea with this major, so it might be new to a lot
of people. To put it simply, it’s a major where you
research and develop effective ways and systems
for teaching and learning. In class, we learn a lot of
different things, like ways to design educational
content, using digital tools, and learner analysis.
The professors are super kind and warm to each and
every student, and the students in the department
take care of each other. I was able to adjust to the
school and fit in quickly thanks to how much they
helped me.

Any advice for international students
preparing to study in Korea?
For those of you getting ready to study in Korea,
I recommend practicing Korean a little bit every day.
You don’t have to be perfect at it, but especially for
classes with presentations or discussions, it really
helps to practice expressing your thoughts. There’s
no need to be overwhelmed! The professors and
classmates are very supportive, so you’ll be able to
adjust step by step. And studying in Korea isn’t just
about academics! There are tons of amazing foods
here, as well as festivals and events to enjoy each
season. Most of all, I think it’s a huge plus that you
get to directly experience a different culture. It might
feel unfamiliar at first, but if you keep an open mind
and take on the challenge, I really believe it’ll turn
into an unforgettable and valuable time in your life!
So, I hope to see you at Konkuk University!

Why did you choose Konkuk University?
There are honestly so many great things about Konkuk
University, but one of my favorite parts is how kind
and considerate they are toward international
students. From the application process to everyday
campus life, I’ve received so much support along the
way. The scholarship system for international
students is set up especially well, so it really helped
me a lot in balancing my studies and daily life.
And I have to mention the campus! I think our
campus is just gorgeous. The lake and the natural
surroundings blend to make my university life feel
even more special. There’s a reason it’s often used as
a filming location for Korean dramas!

What do you study in Moving Images,
which belongs to the College of Art &
Design?
In Moving Images, we learn all sorts of things related to
video production. From live-action shooting to 3D and
motion design, we get to experience a wide range of
projects, so we develop skills for working with moving
images in general. A lot of our courses are project-
based, which means we go through the entire process
hands-on, from planning to completion. It’s super
helpful learning about all the different roles needed in
the film and animation industry.

Any advice for international students
preparing to study in Korea?
The first thing I want to say to those preparing to
study abroad is "Don’t worry too much"! As long as
you carefully prepare and meet the school’s
requirements, good things will definitely come from
it. There’s no need to be stressed, so just enjoy the
process.
Studying abroad is such a fun and exciting experience.
You’ll learn a lot, and you’ll meet so many amazing
people. If you’re still unsure, I just want to say, “Go
for it.” I made a big decision when I applied to
Konkuk University, and now I can say with confidence
that it was one of the best choices I’ve made.
And lastly, to everyone preparing, “Fighting! You’ve
got this!” The admissions process can be stressful,
but believe in your abilities and don’t lose confidence.
I really hope to see you on campus next year!

Why did you choose Konkuk University?
One of the biggest strengths of Konkuk University is
that the school is very welcoming toward
international students. There are many foreign
students here, especially in majors like Media,
Business, and Liberal Arts. Of course, there are
fewer of us in science-related majors like mine, but
that’s nothing to worry about. I’m currently studying
in Integrative Bioscience and Biotechnology. The
professors are incredibly kind and supportive toward
international students. They make sure we can keep
up with the coursework and really take care of us.
My Korean classmates are also super friendly.
They’ve helped me out a lot, both in class and in
daily life. Another great thing is the amazing location.
The campus is right in the center of Seoul, so it’s
really easy to get to popular areas like Hongdae or
Myeongdong by subway. Seongsu-dong is also just
around the corner. The town is full of trendy pop-up
stores these days, so I go there often. Being able to
step outside of my school life anytime and enjoy the
various cultures and experiences the city has to offer
is extremely satisfying for me.
02
What do you study in Integrative
Bioscience and Biotechnology (which
belongs to the Institute of Science and
Technology)?
In this major, I study a wide range of subjects that
cover both biology and chemistry. The focus is on
understanding how living organisms work at the
molecular level. Right now, I’m mainly doing
foundational courses like Biochemistry, Organic
Chemistry, and Genetics. Later, I plan to get into
more specialized subjects like Neurobiology and
Advanced Biotechnology.
Of course, it can be tough at times, but the topics
are so interesting that I actually enjoy studying them.
I especially find it rewarding when we learn about
the human body, how it functions, and how science
can improve our lives. Through lab classes, we get
hands-on experience with real equipment and apply
what we’ve learned in practice, which has been
super valuable. These practical skills are really useful
for anyone hoping to go into research or a career in
the life sciences. Thanks to this major, I feel like I’m
growing not only academically but also in how I think
and solve problems.

Any advice for international students
preparing to study in Korea?
The first piece of advice I’d give to international
students is to really work on your Korean. Even if
your classes are in English, you’ll still need Korean
for things like going to the doctor, handling
paperwork, or just getting through everyday life.
Being confident in Korean helps you live more
independently, and that boosts your self-esteem
too. If you can, I recommend studying in a Korean
language program for about a year before starting
your degree. Also, mental preparation is super
important. You’ll need an open mind and the ability
to adapt to a new environment, culture, and
language. Above all, always remind yourself why you
came here. Korea is full of exciting things to keep
you distracted, but you must stand your ground and
focus on your studies. If you make the right friends
and stay grounded, studying in Korea will become a
priceless experience in your life.
