TIME OF CONJUGATION: SIMPLE PRESENT

AFFIRMATIVE FORM

In Spanish, when we conjugate any verb, we use six different words and the same ones.
they indicate the person and number of conjugation.

In English, with the exception of the verb To be = to be, which uses three words: am - is - are.
to be conjugated in Simple Present tense, all other verbs use only two words.
One of them corresponds to the base or simple form of the verb, it can be found in dictionaries.
bilinguals or electronic translators and accompany people: I - you - we - they.
The other word corresponds to the conjugation of the third person singular: he - she
she, it) which is the only conjugation that adds letters to the verb according to the following rule:

CONJUGATION RULES FOR THE THIRD PERSON SINGULAR

Most verbs in English add 's' in the third person singular.

Ex. vivir live


comer come
To get up = levantarse gets up
EXCEPTIONS:

Verbs that end in: o - s - sh - ch - x add 'es'

Ex. to go= ir va

to miss strange
lavar lava
to observe observes
to mix mezcla
zumbar zumba
Verbs ending in 'y' preceded by a consonant change to 'ies'.

Ej. to study studies


apurarse he/she hurries
The same is not true for verbs ending in 'y' preceded by a vowel.

Ej. jugar juega


decir says
The verbs To be (ser/estar) and To have (tener/haber) are irregular:

The third person singular of the verb To be is written: is = is/are


The third person singular of the verb To have is written: has = has

NEGATIVE FORM

Except for the verb To beque, use the words: am not – is not (isn’t) – are not (aren’t),
when conjugated in the negative form, all other verbs use the auxiliary verb To do
indicate the tense of conjugation: Simple Present

The auxiliary verb that accompanies the persons: I - you - we - they is written: do not (don’t)

The auxiliary verb that accompanies the conjugation of the third person singular: he - she
it is written: does not (doesn't)

With both auxiliaries, the main verb is always written in simple form.

Structure:

SUBJECT + do(es) + not + VERB

I do not sing we don’t do

he does not sing she doesn’t do

they do not play you don’t play

The auxiliary verb that accompanies the persons: I - you - we - they is written as: do

The auxiliary verb that accompanies the conjugation of the third person singular: he - she
it is written: does

With both auxiliaries, the main verb is always written in simple form.

Structure of closed questions (yes/no):

do(es) + SUBJECT + VERB?

Do you like music? Does he speak English?

INTERROGATIVE WORD + do(es) + SUBJECT + VERB... + prep.?
