History

Although there are indications that card games may have originated in

during the 14th century. And from the 15th century onwards, the development
the processes of printing and paper manufacturing provided the
popularization of playing cards in various countries.

In the mid-15th century, a type of deck appeared in Portugal,

whose origin is unknown and whose design has come to be known
by the Portuguese deck of cards. This deck spread to the East,
by the Portuguese ships, later being imitated and adapted to their
own culture, by Japanese, Indonesians, and Indians. The standard
Portuguese eventually became extinct in the late 19th century, in
to the detriment of the French standard, universally accepted today.
Despite this ancient existence, the cards of the Portuguese deck only
were manufactured in Portugal from 1769, when was created the

Zé's Story
Pelintra

Jose Emerenciano was born in Pernambuco, the son of a slave.

It has had some opportunities in life with its former owner.

He worked in office services, but couldn't stand the routine.

Studied little, as he did not have the patience for it.

What he really liked was partying, drinking, and women, not just one or two,
but many.

There was a time when he was in so much trouble in his hometown

who had to flee and seek new horizons.

That's how Emerenciano emerged in the Marvelous City.

Always true to your principles, it is clear that the chosen place
it had to be Lapa, a stronghold of delinquents and easy women in the
era.

In a short time, she began to live off the money raised by her
"girls", who were infatuated with the beautiful print of black, shared the
little they earned with the sweat of their bodies.

There were not a few times that Emerenciano had to face

marginals in defense of those who gave him his daily bread.

What a defense!

He was merciless to anyone who dared to cross his path.

He always carried a dagger with a bone handle, which he said was

your amulet, and with it, he tore much flesh of daring bandits,
how I liked to say amidst laughter, when at the tables of
bars of your preference.

He drank a lot, loved alcohol, from the humblest cachaça to

the most refined Whisky.

And on several occasions, your girls practically dragged you.

unconscious to the room of one of them.

However, he was happy, or said he was, which is almost the same.

Until he met Amparo, wife of Sergeant Savério.

It was the most beautiful sight he had ever seen in his existence.

The beautiful blonde with clear eyes left him in ecstasy just by passing by.
in front of you.

He decided to change his life and set out to win over the blonde goddess,
as he used to call her.

Stopped drinking, excessively, of course!

He was not a man to be weak or softened by anyone, and some
little nuisances here and there didn't harm anyone.

He dismissed two of his girls, he needed to keep at least

Well, the money had to come in, right?

He was then considered the perfect man for the beautiful Amparo.

He then began to surround the woman, who had never cast a glance at him.

To friends, he said that they were both in love and already had everything.
prepared to take her to Pernambuco, where they would live on love.

Slowly the story unfolded, bets were made, some

they guaranteed that Emerenciano, as clumsy as he was, would manage his
attempt.

Others doubted that Amparo had ever shown any

intimacy, however small, that could justify the bragging of the
man.

The worst had to happen, sooner or later.

The Sergeant was informed by the woman of the persistent pressure to which
was submitted.

Willing to defend his wife's honor, he arranged a meeting with the

rival.

Emerenciano laughed, while saying to his friends:

- Of course I'm going, does he want to give me the woman? I'll accept! I'm going here with
my friend...

And he showed his dagger to anyone who wanted to see.

On the designated night, he wore his best suit and headed to the
tavern where the conversation would take place.

He ordered whiskey, it wasn't a night for cachaça, and began to sip.

gently.

He trusted his club and much more in his dagger.

If a fight is what he wanted, he was going to get it.

As she emptied the glass, she heard a scream behind her:

Scoundrel!

He quickly got up and turned to the call.

The shot was accurate.

Emerenciano's face was shattered and his body fell with a thud
deaf.

Received in the astral by spirits on an evolutionary mission, soon

showed remorse for his actions and took his place alongside the squad
of Zé Pelintra.

With a story so similar to that of the master in question, another line
