Readers' Theatre is one technique in which the pupils read a script, requiring them to read their
assigned parts. They also do not wear costumes, use props, or memorize anything as traditional
plays, but only have to use their voices, gestures, and facial expressions to convey the meaning.
This approach helps students develop oral language, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension
since students should reread and repeat lines of a text to make the latter alive. In particular, it is
effective with English learners and struggling readers because learners will get repetitions in a
small group setting without punishment. This practice effectively motivates the students, builds
confidence, engages in expressive reading, and achieves the Common Core of reading fluency,
comprehension, and speaking/listening fulfillment.
