How to Download and Set Up Maptek Vulcan

This guide will walk you through the step-by-step process to create your Maptek account, download, and install
Maptek Vulcan on your device. For technical issues, please contact Smith Engineering IT.

Important for macOS users: These steps must be completed within the Engineering Undergraduate Remote Desktop.
For instructions on how to launch the desktop tool, visit: Connect to the Smith Engineering Remote Desktop Pool

Step 1: Create Your Maptek Account

• Go to the Maptek sign-in page:

• If you do not have an account, click Register.

• Fill in the required fields, making sure to use your


queensu.ca email address, then select Register.

• On the account setup page, enter the following details:


o Name of Business/Organization: Queen's
University
o Job Title: Student
o Name of Site: NA
o Product Interest: Vulcan

• After submitting, you will be directed to the software


page listing all available software.
Step 2: Download and Install Maptek Workbench

• After logging in, locate Workbench 2025.2


and click Details.

• Download the installation file named


Maptek_Workbench_2025.2_4679.exe.
• Once downloaded, open the installation file to
begin setup.

• Review the license agreement carefully and


agree to the terms.
• Click Install to start the installation process.
o If prompted by your device asking for
permission to make changes, click Yes
or Allow.

• Wait for the installation to complete, and


you’ll see a message confirming successful
installation.
• Restart your device when prompted to
complete the installation.
Step 3: Launch Maptek Workbench and Access Vulcan

• After restarting, open the Maptek Workbench


application.

• Sign in using your Maptek account


credentials.

• In the Workbench, check for the blue Vulcan


icon.

If the Vulcan icon is not visible:


• Go back to the Maptek website and download
the Vulcan application separately.
• Install and launch the Vulcan app.
• Return to the Workbench and verify that the
Vulcan icon appears.
Step 4: Load Test Data and Activate License

• Make sure the Vein Au-Ag_2025 folder is


extracted on your desktop.
• Click the blue Vulcan icon in Workbench to
launch Vulcan.

• Select the extracted Vein Au-Ag_2025 folder to


upload it.

• Wait while Vulcan fetches and activates your


license.

• Once the license is fetched, the Vulcan interface


will appear, confirming your setup is complete.
• You are now ready to use Maptek Vulcan!
