2. If A = 3 2 −4 , then find A-1 and hence solve the following system of equations:
1 1 −2
2 x - 3y +5 z = 11, -3 x - 2y +4z = 5, x + y -2 z = -3.
8 4 3
3. Find A , where A = 2 1 1 and use it to solve the system of equations:
-1

1 2 2
8 x + 4y + 3z = 19, 2x + y + z = 5, x + 2y + 2 z = 7.
3 2 1
4.If A = 4 −1 2 , then find A-1 and hence solve the following system of equations:
7 3 −3
3 x +4y + 7 z= 14, 2x - y + 3z = 4, x +2y -3z = 0.
1 2 0
5. If A = −2 −1 −2 , then find A-1 and hence solve the following system of equations:
0 −1 −1
x - 2y = 10, 2x - y - z = 8, -2y + z = 0.
−4 4 4 1 −1 1
6. Determine the product −7 1 3 1 −2 −2 and use it to solve the system of
5 −3 −1 2 1 3
equations x – y + z= 4 , x – 2y – 2z = 9, 2x + y + 3 z =1.
1 −2 3 11 −5 −14
7. Given two matrices A = 1 4 1 and B = = −1 −1 2 , find AB and use this result
1 −3 2 −7 1 6
to solve the following system of equations:
x – 2y + 3 z= 6, x + 4y +z = 12, x -3y + 2z = 1.
−5 1 3 1 1 2
8. Find the product of matrices A= 7 1 −5 = 3 2 1 to solve the system of
1 −1 1 2 1 3
equations; x +y + 2 z= 1, 3 x + 2 y + z = 7, 2x + y + 3z = 2.
1 −1 2 −2 −0 1
9. Use the product 0 2 −3 9 2 −3 to solve the system of equations:
3 −2 4 6 1 −2
x + 3 z= 9, - x + 2 y -2 z = 4, 2x -3y + 4z = -3.
10. A furniture workshop produces three types of furniture- chairs, tables and beds each day. On a
particular day, the total number of furniture pieces produced is 45.It was also found that production of
beds exceeds that of chairs by 8, while the total production of beds and chairs together is twice the
production of tables. Determine the units produced of each type of furniture, using matrix method.

11. An amount of Rs 10000 is put into three investments at the rate of 10%, 12% and 15% p.a. The
combined annual income of all three investments is Rs 1310,however the combined annual income of
first and second investments is Rs 190 short of the income from the third. Use matrix method and find
the investment amount in each at the beginning of the year.

12. Three students run on a track such that their speeds add upto 6 km/hr. However, double the speed
of the third runner added to the speed of the first results in 7km/hr.If thrice the speed of the first runner
is added to the original speeds of the other two, the result is 12 km/hr.Using matrix method, find the
original speed of each runner.
