techniques. It is important that you revise and apply your knowledge of art elements and design principles with the practical
activities that follow. You must also analyse font using the appropriate art terminology.

Paste all activities and notes in your journal / workbook.

Introduction:
Refer to the creative fonts on pages 4 and 5 of the lesson plan:
• Discuss the examples and identify the art elements in the fonts.
• Also discuss the fonts that have a background and refer to the art elements.

ASSIGNMENT SHEET: Practical Activity: refer to page 6: Creative Fonts.

Instructions:
• Design and create a booklet with unique fonts. This booklet represents YOUR name.
• The cover (front) should contain YOUR name and the content should be each letter of YOUR name on a separate single page.
• Each letter of YOUR name should be a different font and have a different background.
• You need to incorporate different art elements in your fonts such as, line, shape, tone values, colour and texture.

Complete the following steps:


Step 1: Cut cardboard for the front and back cover, 10x10cm size.
Step 2: Now cut out the inside pages - also 10x10cm.
Make sure you have the same number of pages as the number of letters in your name (if you have a short name you can use
a second name or your surname)
Step 3: Write your name in a creative way on the cardboard that will serve as your cover page. Use an interesting readable font.
Work the above art elements into your font. Now also create a background that compliments your font.
Step 4: Draw each letter of your name on the other pages (separately). Each letter must have a different font.
Incorporate different lines, shapes, colours, tones and textures into each letter.
Step 5: Draw a different background for each letter of your name.

Step 6: When your lettering is complete, bind your booklet in a creative way.
