Culture As An Anchor

In An Uncertain World

1
Foreword

It seems like we live in a world which is increasingly uncertain and ever

changing. We used terms like VUCA (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex,
Ambiguous) to describe it and now we have come up with new ones like
BANI (Brittle, Anxious, Non-Linear, Incomprehensible).

The truth is that we have always had change. In fact, Heraclitus in 500BCE
gave us the famous phrase “the only constant in life is change”. What
makes it disconcerting to us is not that change is occurring but rather the
pace of that change, whether in geopolitics or in technology like Artificial
Intelligence.
