Load Break Switch

It is installed at 11kV side of PMT, it is an onload switch. Its voltage range is


6-40.5kV and current rating is 400-1250 A. It uses SF6 as quenching medium.
It has SF6 tank, pressure relief tank, gas pressure meter, manual locking, and
indicator for on/off. It opening/closing time is less than 0.1s, it has earth
terminal for grounding the LBS. And Hot stick to on/off it.

Types of earthing as per IEC


TN: same earthing point for source and installation
TN-S: same earthing point but different conductors
TN-C: same earthing point and same conductors
TN-CS: same earthing point and same conductors in start then splits in to 2
conductors.
TT: both source and installation have separate earth points and are not
connected
IT: Source is not earthed but isolated and installation has its own earthing
point.

Cassette VCB PANEL

Type1: Metering + Protection. Type 2: Only protection


it works for nominal voltage 11kV, max voltage 12kV. And current rating 630
A
Type Test: after every 10 years
Routine test: visual inspection, verification of dimension, verification of
wiring (loop testing: check CB and fuses installed will work in case of fault or
not.)
Working: the handle is manually rotated in clockwise direction to energize
the VCB. The removeable part is where VCB is installed and fixed
Compartment has busbars
Specs: Nominal Voltage 11kV , 3phase, 50Hz, highest 12kV, rated current is
630A, CT ratio is 600/5 & PT ratio is 11000/110. SCBC is 20kA for 3 sec.

SF6 RMU: used for switching from one feeder to another.


Components: LBS for switching, VCB for protection from faults, SF 6 tank,
busbars, CTs, earth switch, Fault passage indicator: installed at feeder side
for indicating on/off.
