2025 Medical & Public Health Innovation Scholarship

Dear Scholarship Committee,

It is with great enthusiasm and a deep sense of purpose that I submit my application for the Medical &
Public Health Innovation Scholarship for the Advanced Public Health / Neuroscience Internship at
Leadership Initiatives.

From a young age, I have been drawn to science and medicine, with a particular fascination for how
biological systems and neuroscience shape human health. My ultimate goal is to become a doctor,
combining clinical practice with research to make a meaningful impact on individuals and communities.
This passion is reflected in my academic pursuits and extracurricular involvement.

I have actively sought opportunities to contribute to my community and develop skills relevant to
healthcare. As Rhode Island State Officer for HOSA, I have taken on a leadership role that allows me to
mentor peers, organize statewide healthcare events, and promote service and professional development
among students. This experience has strengthened my leadership, communication, and organizational
skills while deepening my understanding of healthcare systems.

In addition, I facilitate Balika Sabhas at my local mandir, providing mentorship and educational support
to younger girls, and I volunteer at a local hospital, which allows me to gain exposure to the healthcare
setting. These experiences have reinforced my belief in the importance of compassion, service, and
leadership in all aspects of life.

Academically, I have pursued rigorous coursework in biology, neuroscience, and health sciences. I have
also engaged in research and independent study opportunities that allow me to explore the intersection of
science and community health. These experiences have prepared me to contribute meaningfully to the
Advanced Public Health / Neuroscience Internship while continuing to build the skills necessary for a
future career in medicine.

The Advanced Public Health / Neuroscience Internship aligns perfectly with my aspirations. I am inspired
by Dr. Richardson’s work in advancing medical and public health innovation, and I hope to learn how
research and community-based interventions can improve health outcomes. This scholarship will provide
an invaluable opportunity to expand my knowledge, gain hands-on experience, and further my
commitment to healthcare, compassion, and service.

I am honored to be considered for the Medical & Public Health Innovation Scholarship. I am confident
that my academic achievements, leadership roles, and dedication to helping others align with the mission
of the Advanced Medical & Public Health Internship. This opportunity will serve as both a stepping stone
