Roberto Clemente, born 1934, was an accomplished baseball player,
philanthropist, and national icon in Latin American countries as well as
here in the U.S.
Roberto Clemente was elected to the

MAJOR ACCOMPLISHMENTS
Roberto Clemente got his 3,000th hit on
September 30th, 1972. This milestone was
a double to left-center field, and it would
be his final regular-season hit of his
legendary career before his unfortunate
death.
Clemente also had a great arm and was
known for his huge throws from right field
to get runners out or hold them at bases.
Roberto Clemente was quite the all-
around ballplayer and teammate on the
Pittsburgh Pirates.
Roberto Clemente was the first real Latino
superstar in the MLB as well as being a very
generous and kind person. He was the player
that really shattered the barrier that blocked
Latino players from being great in the MLB.
He made it possible for players like Rafael
Devers and Jose Altuve to be in the league,
play a lot and be good people too.
