Invitation to Participate in the Indian Multifaceted Excellence Admissions Scheme
Greetings from The University of Hong Kong (HKU)!
As one of the leading universities in the world, ranked 11th globally and 1st in Asia in the latest QS
University Rankings, HKU embraces student diversity and internationalized education. Our campus
hosts students from 97 countries and regions. In recent years, we have attracted a strong pool of
overseas students, including many from India who have demonstrated exceptional academic
performance. We sincerely appreciate the nurturing care and support your school has provided for
this remarkable group of students.
To further enhance our collaboration, we are excited to introduce a new initiative in India that I hope
you can share with your Grade XII students. We are now accepting applications for undergraduate
programmes through our Indian Multifaceted Excellence Admissions Scheme (IMEA) for the 2026-
2027 academic year.
In line with our commitment to a holistic admissions approach, we value students’ academic
achievements alongside personal experiences and leadership qualities. Through the IMEA,
successful candidates demonstrating outstanding non-academic accomplishments will be awarded
bonus points to their overall score for admissions, potentially enhancing their chances of receiving
an offer from HKU.
Students taking the Grade XII Board Examinations of CBSE or CISCE in 2026 are invited to apply
for admission to our designated undergraduate programmes across various faculties and schools,
including Architecture, Arts, Biomedical Engineering, Business and Economics, Computing and
Data Science, Engineering, Innovation, Law, Medicine, Science, and Social Sciences. Applications
must be submitted via our online system no later than November 24, 2025. Please refer to Annex I,
II, and III for additional details.
We are also delighted to inform you that in-person admissions interviews will take place in Delhi
from December 6-7, 2025 (final schedule will be announced). Shortlisted students will receive further
details about the interview schedule in due course.

Annex I
Indian Multifaceted Excellence Admissions Scheme (IMEA)
Scheme Overview
The Indian Multifaceted Excellence Admissions Scheme (IMEA) aims to recognize Indian
students who demonstrate excellence beyond academic exam scores alone. Many Indian students
excel in extracurricular accomplishments, such as Olympiads, that are not captured in academic
transcripts. This holistic approach will enhance diversity, attract high-caliber students, and align with
HKU’s strategic goals of fostering inclusive excellence.
Eligibility Criteria
To be eligible for IMEA, applicants must:
• Be appearing for the Grade XII Board Examinations conducted by CBSE or CISCE in 2026
• Must submit both:
o HKU undergraduate application
o Separate IMEA application
Selection Criteria
Applicants will be evaluated holistically based on the following:
• School-Vetted Achievements
During the HKU application, applicants will nominate their school counsellor, who will
provide a formal endorsement using HKU’s template (available in Annex II), documenting:
o Academic performance in school (school-based results)
o Achievements in international or continental Olympiad competitions
o Performance in national competitions and examinations
o Other notable merits and accomplishments
• Interview Performance
Assessment of the shortlisted applicant’s intellectual potential, communication skills, and
alignment with the University’s values and goals.
Selection Result
Successful candidates will be awarded bonus points toward their total score for admission. The
bonus points:
• Apply to the overall admission score only;
• No impact on subject scores or scholarship considerations

Application Process
• HKU Application (ug.hku.hk)
o During application, nominate the school counsellor.
o The counsellor will complete the achievement verification and endorsement form
(HERE) and upload it through the designated submission method.
• IMEA Application (link)
o Submit the IMEA application.
o The achievement verification and endorsement template will also be sent to the
student after IMEA application submission.
• Interview
o Shortlisted candidates will be invited for an interview in Delhi on December 6 or 7,
2025 (final schedule will be announced in due course).
Timeline
• Applications Due: November 24, 2025
• Counsellor Submissions: December 3, 2025
• Interviews in Delhi: December 6-7, 2025 (tentatively scheduled)
• Results: From January 31, 2026
