Lesson Objectives  Differentiating between active and passive voice.


 Identifying main and helping verbs in sentences.
 Identifying past progressive and present progressive
 Identifying perfect tenses (present perfect, past perfect, future perfect).

Warm-up-Prior Knowledge Activation 5m  Briefly review verbs (action and linking) using
examples from previous lessons.
 Show sentences and ask students to identify the
subject and the verb.
Example: The dog runs quickly.
Learning points to be explained  Active vs. Passive Voice
20 m o Active Voice: The subject performs
the action.
Example: The cat chased the mouse.
o Passive Voice: The action is
performed on the subject.
Example: The mouse was chased by
the cat.
 Main and Helping Verbs
o Main Verb: The action or state in the
sentence.
o Helping Verbs: Assist the main verb
(e.g., is, are, have, will).
Example: She is running. (Helping: is;
Main: running)
 Participles
o Present Participle: Verb + -ing (e.g.,
running, swimming).
o Past Participle: Usually verb + -ed/-en
(e.g., played, broken).
 Perfect Tenses
o Present Perfect: has/have + past
participle
Example: She has eaten lunch.
o Past Perfect: had + past participle
Example: They had finished before
lunch.
o Future Perfect: will have + past
participle
Example: We will have completed the
project by Friday.
 Progressive Tenses
o Present Progressive: is/are/am +
present participle
Example: She is writing an essay.
o Past Progressive: was/were + present
participle
Example: They were singing.
o Future Progressive: will be + present
participle
Example: I will be studying
tomorrow.
