A. General

Objectives:
As a part of WTP study specified in the WTP Survey Guidelines,
interviews with Hanoi based tour operators have been conducted

 Duration: 2 days (18-19/09/2012)

 Persons in charge: Lam and RAM
 Location: Hanoi

A. What have been done

1. Lam translated the questions into English

2. Ram: wrote emails (see E: emails addresses of tour operators ). Be
noted that since the email contacts could be changed or no longer exist
due to some reasons, it is advised to send the questionnaires to all
emails in the list

3. Lam introduced the study mission to tour operators and arranged the
meetings
4. Ram went out to conduct the interviews
 B. Approaches
Based on the list of tour operators who are dealing with Ba Be N.P
(provided by the N.P) and based on the initial study on Hanoi based tour
operators who are interested in nature based tourism, 25 tour operators
have been selected out for the WTP study. Due to time limited, only 10
tour operators are in the plan of face to face interview

1. Interviews by emails: 15 tour operators

Tour operators whose contacts are in YELLOW COLOR
BACKGROUND. These companies are selected out by their more
frequent sending tourists to N.P

2. Interviews in person: 10 tour operators

i). Arrange the meetings by phone to explain the reasons and set the
meeting time

As you may be aware that Ba Be National Park is of high divers biodiversity and
valuable tourism resources. In order to support conservation initiatives, there is a
need to have a certain amount of money. At the moment, financial source comes from
the government budget and partly from the entrance fees. However, financial budget
for conservation activities is very limited. Your willingness to pay more for
conservation activities will help sustaining the unique values of the National Park as
well as ecotourism resources.
