A VINTAGE GEM IN THE HEART OF NEWCASTLE
Summerhill Bowling CluB waS offiCially opened on 17 July 1916 aS a private memBerS Bowling CluB in the Summerhill area of newCaStle upon tyne.
Off-the-beaten-track yet just a stones throw from the city centre, Summerhill Bowling Club is a beautiful indoor and outdoor venue for events with a difference. Bursting with vintage character and charm, Summerhill Bowling Club is the perfect place to host a range of events and activities, from weddings to meetings.
In 2010, a group of residents discovered that Summerhill Bowling Club was set to close. Unable to bear the thought of losing such a loved local landmark, The Friends of Summerhill charity formed, bought the club and took it into community ownership. The result: a newly-renovated pavilion and two verdant lawns, licensed and now available for hire.

Summerhill offers the beauty of a natural setting and the practicality of a city-centre location; a grand Georgian square in a conservation area, just a short walk from Newcastles Central Station.
Frequented in years gone by sporting legends like WG Grace, Len Shackleton and Jackie Milburn, who all played bowls at the club, Summerhill retains a sense of history and nostalgia youll find hard not to love.
