LPG Gas Detection and Alert System

This document summarizes an LPG gas detection and alert system project. The system uses an MQ-5 gas sensor to detect LPG concentrations and triggers an alarm via a buzzer if levels reach a threshold. An Arduino microcontroller reads the sensor output via an ADC and activates a relay to sound the alarm. When completed, the system aims to integrate a mobile module to call users and an automatic gas cutoff function for safety. The document outlines the components, circuit diagram, block diagram, and future improvements planned for the project.

BACKGROUND OF TOPIC
Safely detecting any malfunctioning of a pressurized gas system to prevent accumulation of combustible gases so that damage or explosion due to such an accumulation of gases is prevented
The Gas Sensor Model is designed to enable Gas detection interface to Microcontroller by providing a mobile call and receiving a call .

LPG GAS DETECTOR

INTRODUCTION MQ-5 SENSOR IS USED High sensitivity to LPG, natural gas, alcohol, smoke. Tin Dioxide (SnO2) sensitive layer, measuring electrode and heater are fixed. MQ-5 have 6 pin ,4 of them are used to fetch signals, and other 2 are used for providing heating current.

The circuit operates on a 9V battery.

Voltage Regulator is used to convert 9V into 5V DC to drive the gas sensor module. The MQ-5 gas sensor module ,its output goes high when the gas level reaches or exceeds certain point.

Interfacing with the sensor module with microcontroller is done through ADC.

MICROCONTROLLER

ARCHITECTURE-8051 MICROCONTROLLER USED AT89S52 Provides 8K bytes of Flash, 256 bytes of RAM, 32 I/O lines, three 16-bit timer/counters. Powerful microcontroller which provides a highlyflexible and cost-effective solution to many embedded control applications.

Whenever there is LPG concentration of 101000 parts per million in the area, the OUT pin of the sensor module goes high. The reference voltage which set by sensor is converted by ADC in the form of digital signal. The driver which is connected from the port of microcontroller act as a relay circuit.
