CIRCULATION WORK

TEMPLE OF LEARNING

OUR LIBRARY ITS ORIGIN

Nearly four decades ago, to put precisely in the year 1969, the College and the Library were
started with a noble mission to kindle light into the lives of the poor people of this forsaken
backward area by imparting education. Thus in that year a tiny 40 x 12 asbestos roofed
building was earmarked to locate the Library. In infancy days itself, the collection of books
for the Library is excellent. The founder Secretary and Correspondent Late Dr. N.V.Krishna
Rao and the founder Principal Sri K.Umavara Murthy are themselves connoisseurs . With the
available shoestring financial resources, where there was no UGC support, they struggled to
procure outstanding books for the Library. Dr. N.V.Krishna Rao donated a number of books
from his personal collection.
Year after, year, as the College has grown from strength to
strength, the Librarys Accession Register has also started with more and more valuable
books added.

The year that was in 1983, the vision and dreams of Dr.N.V.Krishna Rao, were fulfilled with
the construction of magnificent building for the Library. M/s. The KCP Ltd, Vuyyuru the
pioneers in Sugar manufacturing, constructed and donated the landmark building to locate
the Library at a stupendous cost of Rs. 13.00 lakhs. Nearly three decades ago the amount of
Rs. 13.00 lakhs was a munificent donation reckoned at any standard.

A STRUCTURAL MARVEL

1St floor

A GENEROUS GIFT & FOCAL POINT

Quite appropriately and befittingly the building was named after late Smt.Velagapudi Durgamba
Ramakrishna wife of late Sri V. Ramakrishna, I.C.S and mother of our beloved College Committee
president Smt. Rajeswary Ramakrishnan. Along with the building , the KCP Ltd donated reading
room furniture like tables, chairs of fiber make and book racks. The plinth area of the building is
about 12000 Sft and it is in shape HEXOGONEL. The building consists of two floors. The bust
of late Sri V. Ramakrishna, which was installed on a pedestal at the core point of the first floor,
inspires the students and also remind them how an ordinary mortal from a adjacent small village
Bellamvaripalem has transformed the industrial scenario of A.P., with his I.C.S, background and great
vision.
The pride of our College infrastructure is this magnificent library building and the invaluable
volumes in it. The Library building stands majestically as a focal point amidst a beautiful garden with
sylvan surroundings. There are numerous plants encompassing the building. A banyan tree gives
shelter to the building from the heat of the scorching sun.
The flowering plants, the sylvan
surroundings, and the landscape of the College campus, visible through the glass panels of the
building, gives a veritable feast to the eyes of the readers in the library. Several portraits, photos of
eminent scholars, Scientists and philanthropists adorning the inner walls of the reading room showers
inspiration to the young minds.

SHARING THE VISION

To inculcate good reading habit among students. And also to provide the required
reading material viz. Books, Journals, magazines, Back volumes of Journals etc. To
widen their Horizon.
To motivate the students for optimum utilization of library facilities for their overall
academic needs.
To maximize the use of resources and to raise the satisfaction levels of readers.
To establish connectivity with National Libraries.
Providing online services.
To transform into Digital library in near future.

MAKING THE MISSION A REALITY

We follow open access system. All the books are classified according to D.O.G 18 th
edition. We also have catalogue card system. The racks are from Godrej & Vinar. The
total number of books in the Library is 31,669. The total number of staff are 4.

The process of Computerization is underway. The Library has a unique annexure to it The
Archaeological Museum.
While summing up we emphasize that our noble mission is to serve the students and to
ignite their minds by inculcating good reading habits keeping in mind Reading maketh a
full man.
We rededicate ourselves to fulfill the ideals of Mahathma Gandhi that rural population have
to transform economically and academically to achieve Gram Swarajya which ultimately
enables the country to prosper.
We are striving to ignite the tender minds of the young students of this rural area to prosper
academically by utilizing our Library services.
