RRU
The RRU3701C has the following functions:
The RRU3701C receives RF signals from the antenna system,
down-converts the signals to IF signals, and then transmits
them to the BBU after amplification, analog-to-digital
conversion, digital down-conversion, matched filtering, and
Digital Automatic Gain Control (DAGC).
The RRU3701C receives downlink baseband data from the
BBU, forwards data from its cascaded RRU3701C, performs
filtering and digital-to-analog conversion for downlink
spreading signals, and up-converts RF signals to the
transmitting frequency band.
The RRU3701C duplexer allows RX signals and TX signals to
share one antenna channel by multiplexing RX signals and TX
signals over the RF channels. The duplexer can also filter the
TX and RX signals.

The BTS3703 supports
GPS clock.
By using the built-in
GPS card, the
BBU3703 obtains GPS

and thus ensures clock
synchronization on the
entire network.
The BBU3703 takes the
GPS 1PPS clock
signals as the
synchronization
reference signals.
When the

GPS system is
interrupted, the clock
system of the BTS3703
changes to free-run

Frequency Reuse Modes of the BTS3703
Single-frequency Partially Used Sub-Channel (PUSC)
The PUSC (1,1,3) networking mode supports both UL-PUSC and DL-PUSC for subchannel allocation.

The PUSC with All SC (1,3,3) networking mode supports both UL-PUSC with all SC and
DL_PUSC with all SC for sub-channel allocation.
FFR (1,1,3) Networking
The FFR (1,1,3) networking mode supports both UL_PUSC+PUSC with all SC and
DL_PUSC+PUSC with all SC for sub-channel allocation.
Note: The frequency reuse mode is defined as (c,n,s), where c indicates the number of
BSs in a cluster, n indicates the frequency reuse factor, and s indicates the number of
sectors in a BS.

PUSC (1,3,3) Networking
There are three frequencies. Each of the three sectors in a BTS3703 uses one frequency.
All sectors use PUSC with all SC.
In one BTS3703, three sectors use the same UL_PermBase, but, different
BTS3703s are assigned different UL_PermBases to minimize interference.
F2
F1
F3
F2
F2
Advantages:
F1
The distributed frequency resources can be fully used.
The networking topology does not require complex sub-carrier
mode and is easy to realize.
The system has low overhead and is affected by weak
interference.
The network coverage is wide, the cost in the initial phase of
network development is low, and the risk of network development is
low.
The network is easy to build, interference is easy to control, and
network planning and optimization is easy to implement.
F3
F1
F3
Disadvantages:
The spectrum usage is similar to the 1x 3 sub-carrier
reuse mode in a single frequency. The soft handover cannot be
implemented.

Page 39
FFR (1,1,3) Networking
All the BTS3703s share a frequency. To ensure the effect of
coverage, use the PUSC mode on the edge of the cell. To improve
the spectrum usage, use the PUSC with all SC mode.
The cells located far away from the BTS3703 use the PUSC mode.
In one BTS3703, each of the three sectors uses one-third of the subchannels that has the same frequency.
The center part of the cell uses the PUSC with all SC mode, and
neighboring sectors use different PermBases to balance
interference.
Select these two modes according to the C/I. The frequency reuse
factor is 1.
Disadvantages:
This networking topology requires complex sub-carrier mode and sub-channel mode.
The sub-channel mode determines the strength of interference. If there is intra-frequency interference
between neighboring sectors in a BTS3703, the load of this BTS3703 is heavy.
The probability of channel collision determines the strength of intra-frequency interference.
