Friction
Friction is the force acting between the two surfaces to
maintain its position
Miscellaneous friction : Sliding friction , friction occurs due to
sliding contact Rolling friction , friction occurs due to rolling
contact
Examples of friction between the balls on the roller bearing
Lubricant
The word tribology is derived from the Greek
language meaning in touch The science of tribology
is the science of the two metal contacts , where
there is friction ( friction ) , wear ( wear ) , therefore
it is necessary lubrication ( lubrication )
Examples of machine parts that come into contact ,
bearings , chains , gears , gear etc . One
component stationary while the other moves
Lubricant Function
Reduce heat due to
friction
Reduce friction between
metal to metal
Protect equipment from dirt
and other contaminants
Help distribute the load on
the bearing shaft
Prevent wear and
corrosion
Karakteristik Pelumasan
Viscosity
Pour Point
Flash Point
Fire Point
Viscosity (Kekentalan)
Viscosity is the ability of a liquid to flow
, usually expressed in units of
centistokes ( cSt ) or centipoise ( cP )
Pour Point/Titik Tuang/Titik
Curah
Pour point is the lowest temperature
where the oil could still melt or flow
under certain conditions when cooled
without interruption at a predetermined
limit Below the lowest temperature ,
the oil will freeze and can not flow
anymore
Flash Point / Titik Nyala
Flash point is the lowest temperature
where the oil vapor will issue a small
flame ignited when periodically passed
over the surface of the oil
Fire Point / Titik Api
Fire point is the lowest
temperature where the oil ignited
and continued to burn steadily for
at least 5 minutes
Jenis Pelumasan
Liquid lubricant Semi Solid
Lubricants
Solid lubricants
grease
Pelumas Cair
A liquid lubricant , commonly known as the oil
Types of liquid lubricants :
1. mineral oil Fuel base oil ( base oil ) were taken from
the oil that has been processed and refined
2. synthetic oil Usually consists of Polyalphaolifins that
comes from the cleanest part of the sorting mineral
oil , namely gas ,Tend not contain activated
carbon ,Higher operating temperatures Easily mixed
with chemicals to increase employability
Examples of the use of liquid lubricants : the gear box
to prevent wear between gear
Pelumas Semi Solid /
Grease
Grease is made of a liquid , usually oil mixed
with materials compactor ( thickening agent ) ,
usually in the form of soap
Grease remain at a depressed lubricated and
difficult to get out
Grease can be used as protective equipment to prevent
the machine ingress of moisture and dust
Pelumas Padat
lubricant in the form of metal or solid chemical
Typically used where the low temperature will freeze
and regular oil at high temperature will burn regular oil
Examples of solid lubricants : graphite and
molybdenum disulphide , tungsten disulphide
Application of solid lubricants : calciner M 3134
Graphit

Metode Lubrikasi
Manual Lubrication
Automatic Lubrication
Gravity System
Pressure System
Splash Lubrication
Ring Lubrication
Mist Lubrication
Manual Lubrication
Manual lubrication can be carried out
using an oil pump
Grease
Guns
Automatic Lubrication
This lubrication use a
timer control to
regulate the supply of
oil / grease
automatically driven
by using pumps
Gravity System
Lubricants laid disebuah reservoir , then
allowed to trickle because of gravity
through a needle valve at a
predetermined rate
This oil circulation is a closed system that uses the pump , reservoir and filter
Pressure System
This oil circulation is a closed system
that uses the pump , reservoir and filter
Splash Lubrication
The oil is in the reservoir is available , and the
equipment that will be relubricated submerged in
oil
Ring Lubrication
Lubrication is done by letting the rotating ring on
the shaft
Mist Lubrication
This lubrication using a disc mounted on a shaft ,
the lubricant flow because the rotation of the disc
in the form of mist
Storage way Lubricants
Drum should be deposited in a state of sleep
The position closes the lid to form a
horizontal line( 3 o'clock and 9 o'clock
)
