Ellen Ochoa NASA Astronaut
The person I chose for this project is Ellen
Ochoa, also known as the first hispanic
woman astronaut. She was born on May 10,
1958 and is 58 years old now. She grew up
with both her parents, Rosanne Ochoa and
Joseph Ochoa, in Los Angeles California.
She got married to Coe Miles, which is also
another astronaut. She studied at San Diego
State University, where she met Coe Miles.
While she was studying there, her
occupations were engineering and
Astronomy.
Ellen Ochoas Goal
Ellen Ochoa wanted to become the very first woman astronaut in the world. While
she was in college, she was interviewed about why she wanted to become an
astronaut. Her response to this question was that she wanted to be an astronaut
because when she was growing up; she had noticed that there were no female
astronauts. So since she was very interested, she set a goal of working with NASA
and becoming the very first woman astronaut. I believe that her work is related and
has a connection to science because all the courses she had to take during
college; such as astronomy and the study the stars, planets, moons, etc all have a
connection to it.
Ellen Ochoas Occupations
Ellen Ochoas main occupation in NASA, was wanting to become an astronaut.
Ever since she was six years old, she wanted to study the moon and stars. She
also wanted to travel out of the Earth ever since she was little. She really tried her
fullest to become an astronaut because of her interest and knowing that there
were no women astronauts. On 2007 she was finally the director of Johnson
Space Center and became the first woman astronaut.
Why did I choose Ellen Ochoa?
I chose Ellen Ochoa because me and my sister went to the library one day and my
sister had found a book about this specific person, Ellen Ochoa. She showed me
the book about her but i was not really interested in reading about her, But when
this project was assigned i thought about the book my sister showed me last time,
about Ellen Ochoa, so i decided to do this project about her.
