To determine how much of force is needed to open the

Application Angle

To determine the application angle measurement on finished product.

Application Angle is a measurement of how far the cap had been applied
on the bottle finish. It is measured in degrees of angular rotation.

a) 300 - 360 for 28mm closure.

b) 75 - 100 for 38mm closure (GVW products).

Secure Seal Test
To ensure proper application of plastic closures used on packages containing
carbonated beverages and carbonated packaged water by testing the seal and
thread integrity under pressure.
The Secure Seal tester is a piece of equipment used to evaluate the seal of an
plastic roll-on type closure to plastic container like PET bottle.

The test is performed by inducing gas, at a controlled rate, into the headspace
of a bottle which is submerged in a water bath.

The internal pressure build up is meant to exceed normal conditions present in a

carbonated beverage container.

The excess pressure tests the security of the container finish-to-closure

relationships.

This test is considered a failure if bubbles are seen passing through the closure.
