Input and Output Devices

Keyboards are a common input device that allows users to input text into a computer. Pointing devices like mice are also widely used input devices that allow spatial input. Output devices take the processed electronic data from a computer and present it to users in a human readable form, such as displays that show visual information, printers that print text and graphics on paper, and speakers that produce audio.

OUTPUT DEVICES
A display device is an output device that visually conveys text,
graphics, and video information. Information shown on a display
device is called soft copy because the information exists
electronically and is displayed for a temporary period of time.
Display devices include CRT monitors, LCD monitors and
displays, gas plasma monitors, and televisions.

In computing, a printer is a peripheral which makes a persistent

human-readable representation of graphics or text on paper or
similar physical media. The first computer printer design was a
mechanically driven apparatus by Charles Babbage for
his difference engine in the 19th century; his mechanical printer
design was not built until 2000.

Computer speakers, or multimedia speakers,

are speakers sold for use with computers, although usually
capable of other audio uses, e.g. for an MP3 player. Most
such speakers have an internal amplifier and consequently
require a power source, which may be by a mains power
supply often via an AC adapter, batteries, or a USB port .
