Task KPI Prerequisite Post Task: Code Application

This document outlines the process for conducting mechanical stress analysis on engineering projects. It involves: 1) Receiving requirements from project leaders and determining the stress analysis scope and timeline. 2) Reviewing equipment data sheets, design conditions, and applicable codes to understand analysis parameters. 3) Checking client specifications for design criteria and allowable stresses. 4) Performing stress analysis using software like ANSYS and preparing a report evaluating stresses against criteria. The report requires approval from mechanical engineers before issue.

Preparing report for special items related to mechanical stress analysis required for
SUMMARY
each project depending on condition (client requirement, site condition).

WORK PROCESS POINT (1/4)

1. Stress Analysis Report Receipt
Discuss trouble shooting of new project basic design or operating plant with project mechanical L/E or team leader.
Then, determine stress analysis work scope and preparation due date. Evaluation points are shown below.
a. Nozzle to shell junction
b. Skirt to head attachment point
c. Support lug to shell attachment point
d. Shell to head discontinuity part
e. Knuckle part
f. Flange, tube sheet stress and deflection
g. Axial stress in tube
h. Natural frequency calculation for tall tower

2.Data Review
Check equipment datasheet and design condition for analysis below.
a. Pressure, temperature, dead weight, piping load
b. Applied design code (ASME Sect. VIII,DIV.1,2 or DIN,BS, etc)
c. Ambient temperature
d. Seismic zone or factor
e. Wind speed
f. Special analysis condition such as cyclic load, dynamic load, etc.
g. Unit

3. Available Client Spec.

Check design condition, applied allowable stress in criteria, available special analysis in specification attached to
contract.

WORK PROCESS POINT (2/4)

5. Stress Analysis Report Preparation
Purpose of analysis is to evaluate design propriety about design condition and operation condition of pressure
vessel through finite element analysis when pressure design and manufacture vessel.

Analysis Procedure:
Check pressure, temperature, dead weight, piping load, wind and seismic load and cyclic load, and then analyze
following procedure below. Location of stress analysis of pressure vessel is determined considering client
requirements (design specification or datasheet) discussing with L/E. GS E&C has ANSYS, fe-pipe.

6. Mechanical L/E Approval

1) Write issue date in title block of cover sheet and sign in prepared section, and get mechanical L/Es approval.
Write referring to attachment sample report and revise reflecting project requirements. Lead engineer analyzes
again considering manufacturing problem or revision, if necessary.
2) Write preparing and approving persons signature by word in previous status signature section.

7. Issue
1) Issue finished specification to client officially through management team.

8. Comment Receipt
1) Receive official comment from client. No comment, approved with comment and reject with
comment are possible.

9. Comment
1) No comment : Finish making a report
2) Approved with comment : The report was approved, there is no need to issue again. However, revise and issue
comment later in A,F,C status.
3) Reject with comment : Issue again after revising comment. If comment (great cost, schedule impact) is important,
Issue the comments except it again after persuading the client in letter or meeting.
4) Keep the report including comment well, since it is important evidence when dissent from client later.

10. Registration in eWorks21

1) Register spec. That is approved or ongoing to eWorks21 to be referred by related team or person in charge.
