Assistant Features
 Quick data analysis
 In quick analysis mode, the Assistant can process 10 GB or
more data daily.

 Powerful custom function

 The Assistant supports the function of customizing events,
KPIs, query criteria, and reports to meet the actual service
requirements and the requirements of extended services.

 Theme-based problem location

Assistant Features
 The GENEX Assistant locates and analyzes the causes of the
problems in DT logfiles and lists the potential network problems
related to radio parameters, neighboring cell configuration, and
radio frequency configuration.

 The Assistant displays the problem cells and helps in analyzing

problem cells according to the following problems: over
coverage, poor coverage, no serving cell dominance, azimuth
garbled, downlink interference, and missing neighboring cells.

Assistant Features
 Multiple formats of DT logfiles
 The Assistant analyzes the data in multiple formats, such as
the data in .gen format collected by GENEX Probe, data
in .phu format collected by GENEX PHU, and data in .fmt
format collected by Ericsson TEMS. In addition, the Assistant
can convert DT data to .csv format. This facilitates the problem
location by using other software.

 SitesDisplay: Supports to set the site display shape, color, size, and
labeling on a map.

Binning Types-No Binning
 You can select the data binning type according to the
actual situations. By binning data, the impacts of fast
fading can be significantly reduced. Currently,
Assistant supports four data binning types: no binning,
time binning, distance binning, and grid binning.

 No binning
 The analysis is based on the original test data. It is
applicable to synchronous analysis of events and
signaling.

 Benefit: Every event or IE can be located and analyzed in

detail.

 Defect: A great deal of data needs to be imported.

Copyright © 2013 Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. All rights reserved. Page24
Binning Types-Time Binning
 Time binning
 The test vehicle is stable, and no GPS service is available
at the test points.
 Benefit
 This data binning type is applicable to the test of stable
speed.
 Divide a continuous period by fixed time interval, collect the
maximum and minimum values, and analyze the special

1s
KPIs.
 The test can be efficiently performed. Fast
 Defect
 If the speed of the test vehicle is not stable, the time
intervals are not consistent.
Slow
 Example
 Test data with the time interval of 1s.

Copyright © 2013 Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. All rights reserved. Page25
Binning Types-Distance Binning
 Distance binning
 This binning type is commonly used in drive test
analysis to locate coverage problems.
 Benefits
 Avoids the congestion of sampling points due to
long stop, such as the stop due to a red traffic light.

5m
 The test can be efficiently performed.
 Defect
 This binning type is not applicable to indoor tests or
fixed point tests.
 Example
 Test data with the distance binning interval of 5 m
(ensure that the vehicle speed is not fast)

Binning Types-Location Binning
 Benefits
 Avoids the congestion of sampling points due to
long stop, such as the stop due to a red traffic light.

 Ensures test efficiency.

 Tolerates the GPS offset.

5mx5m
 Defects
 This binning type is not applicable to indoor tests
or fixed point tests.

 The grid size is limited.

 Example
 Test data with the grid of 5 m x 5 m

Customizing KPIs-Counting KPIs

 You can customize two types of

KPIs in the software. One is the
counting KPI which records the
times that an event happens and is
logically simple. The other is the
calculation KPI which is used to
obtain a result based on certain
algorithms.

Customizing KPIs- Calculation KPIs

 Calculation KPI: You can use

calculation KPIs or available
functions in the system to
calculate the result, For example,
the call drop rate shown in the
preceding figure, according to a
specific data expression.
 Available functions are Average,

Single Site Verification Overview
 The SSV (Single site verification) refers to the self-test and
verification of the equipment at each site.

 The SSV aims to ensure that basic functions of all cells in each site
to be rolled out or swapped are normal before the Cluster
optimization.

 Through the SSV, engineers can determine whether

problems such as call drop and access failure are caused by
poor network coverage that should be solved in the network
optimization or by the equipment faults. The SSV is helpful for
the fault identifying and troubleshooting at the later stage and
the improvement of network optimization efficiency.

Cluster Optimization Report—Question
Optimization and Analysis
 Question optimization refers to the problem of cluster optimization process,
when the problems arise, do the detail analysis combined with field
geography, serving cell state, neighboring information, signaling and
events, backstage KPI statistics, then give the solution recommendations,
an retest after the solution.

Cluster Optimization Report—Remaining
Issues
 The remaining issues in the cluster optimization report, mainly refers to a
difficult problem to solve in a short time, the major area of weak coverage,
you need to deploy new sites to solve.

You need to deploy new

macro sites surrounding
the weak coverage area to
solve, it will be a remaining
issue.
